The "E" Class challenge

Hello Commanders,

I have had this thought in my head for a while now and i think now is the right time to give this challenge a go. The idea comes from the original Outlander challenge but this, I believe to be even harder. You would equip a standard none engineered Sidewinder with all E class modules, so as it comes basically. The optional modules can be fitted in any way you want but to be honest you haven't got many options to play with. Likewise the hardpoints and utility modules are optional also, so you should have a build close to this.

Ok so you have your ship now where do we go, like the Outlander challenge you have to make it to Jaques station in Colonia where you will be greeted by Jaque him self and a lovely cold beer, if your under the legal age to drink there are also fruit shoots and water available too. The route will follow Colonia's out posts visiting many fabulous nebula's along the way, the stations will act as way points and also give a place to rest your head on the comfy B&B beds located on site. The route and position of the out posts are as follows:

The link to the map can be found on EDSM here https://www.edsm.net/en/galactic-ro...sts+from+Sol+to+EOL+PROU+RS-T+D3-94+(Colonia)

Sacaqawea Space Port one of the many amazing views to be had on the way, this also serves as the half way point.

The possibility of this challenge ending in success is very low. The jumps needed to reach Colonia are in excess of 3000, so to that end this challenge is not for the faint hearted. However this is over balanced by the pure beast of exploration and the trip to the unknown, your chance to put your stamp on newly found wonders of the galaxy.

I would like to note that this challenge does not replace the Outlander challenge and this is just another way to have fun whilst exploring.

If your up for the challenge then please let me know. I would love to see some screenshots of commanders trying this challenge and posting their experiences along the way.

Good luck CMDR, but I fear you won't be able to make it across the Sagittarius Gap. Might be possible if you were to follow the Orion Arm but even then I'm not sure - even around the Bubble there are lots of dead ends when using such a low jump range.

Truly a proper E challenge would require an E-rated fuel scoop in order to make the journey properly grueling.
With some luck, perhaps neutron boosting can be used to cross a few critical spots, especially in conjunction with jumponium.

Well im on my travels see you out in the black as ill be visiting every star on the way to Colonia.

I have started this challenge with Cmdr Maikeru. I will say one thing, From barnard's Star to where am I now (104ly) took 4 hours including 1.5 hrs material hunting (basic boost only atm). Not even out of the bubble. This is going to take a looooong time.

Keep and eye on the gal map every few jumps.
Top up every chance you can.
Filtering for scoopables only does NOT help.
There is no straight line route, Expect to backtrack a lot.
Scooping at 20-21 tons seems to work well for managing heat, hovers around 65% and fills fairly quick for a 2E scoop.
25% FSD boosts may not help much, 50% and 100% would be more ideal. Might want to gather materials for these before heading out.

If I can think of anything else will post further. Good luck to anyone attempting this challenge.

Speaking as someone who did a 700kly circumnavigation, sticking to the edges all the way round in a stock Mk III and so knows a bit about not taking the best possible ship for the trip, I'd just like to say - y'all are *!%$ insane. Good luck!

aye only if I had the time.
3k jumps? pfffft that's nothing to me or the likes of Cruento.
but yeah go for it [up]

Good luck, CMDR.

I've completed the Outlander Challenge myself. Not sure I'd want to try it with "E" modules though. I salute you.

Keep an eye on your reserve\supercruise tank, it that empties and refills it can and probably will take an entire jump away.

I still think your version of the challenge is cheating a bit.
If I'd ever do the Outlander challenge, I'd make the rules simple.
Start a new CMDR. The next port you're allowed to dock at is Jaques Station in Colonia.
You have 1,000 credits and the extremely limited outfitting alternatives at Trevithick Dock to get the best alternative working. (A total value of 33,000 credits)
That means, an E rated ship, slightly stripped down with a 1E fuel scoop and a 1C FSD if you're lucky with the current state of the controlling faction.
you have very few options beyond that. A bit more fuel onboard at the expense of jump range is about it. :D

That is an Outlandish Challenge. \o/

Update: So after a few months maybe more time off elite I have finally decided to get back into it. I left the game at 2,900 ly from sol, Currently searching for more fsd boost materials. I expect this journey to still take a considerable amount of time considering I have to boost my fsd for what feels like every single jump so far. If I still have the screens from my last leg I'll link them soon. If I can get to the 2nd base on the colonial route I expect it to get a bit easier. o7
