Just tried to check and it's 'private' aka gone. What's happened?
Why have they made it private ?

In a nutshell... Victoria - the person in charge of AMA's got canned. Very little detail as to why. In protest mods are locking down sub reddits.

Many subreddits have made themselves private in response to the removal of an administrator key to the AMA process, /u/chooter, but also due to underlying resentment against the admins for running the site poorly - being uncommunicative, and disregarding the thousands of moderators who keep the site running.

She was fired for not allowing Celebrity Agents to impersonate said celebrities, and balancing the AMA 's so that a broad spectrum of questions were answered.
What the management wants is AMA's only to have to answer on topic 'soft ball' questions, and agents to be able to 'best represent' their clients.
Vicky insisted on integrity and authenticity... because that was her job (and she was very good at it)... go figure.

It only seem to effect /r/EliteDangerous and /r/EliteTest
The others seem to work just fine.
I´ve visited the site quite a few times. Did not see that much difference between FD and Redit - perhaps I was lucky. Yes we here the 84-ers are older, more mileage, potentially more mature BUT I´ve seen immature responses here also. Also seen quite a bit of ´drama lamas´ as expressed by Nonya. I think that after the release, steam and Xbox the original KS,PB,SB commanders are become a minority. just my 2 euro cent. Again perhaps I was lucky with the threads I visited.
