So in the history posts it mentioned other sentient life and just because it's covering our galaxy, which is massive. When are we going to see aliens! Some type of either small comunty for those way outside our regions of controlled space or by an overwhelming force that tries to distroy our work! Where's the aliens mannnnn?!?!?!

The introduction of Thargoids has the potential to galvanise the game.
Loads of opportunity to revamp the mission system and really up the challenge for combat.
Also it could bring real threat, fear and excitement to trading and exploring.

Cynically:
This game already has more bugs than Starship Troopers…

No really, there used to be thousands of alien races, humans were in the minority in an organization called the "Galactic Co-operative". From the period of 3200 to 3250 by genocided trillions of aliens, took their stuff to prop up their economy.

You know, back when Independence Day came out. Or rather in the weeks leading up to it, I thought and hoped they were going for a Footfall-type story line. Now THAT would have been a great Last Stand of mankind, rather than a few geeks with a lucky choice of interface.

The final space battle would have been spectacularly invisible. X-ray lasers everywhere... Maybe Alfonso Cuaron could pull it off.

I really hope that the Thargoids don't make an appearance any time soon. The game isn't ready for aliens yet. FD really need to flesh out NPC interactions beyond the boring flight or flight dynamic. As it stands any introduction of Thargoids (that name is seriously dated) into the game would quickly become an inconvenience, just like any other NPC interdiction - albeit a more deadly inconvenience.

FD really need to take their time introducing alien life into the game. The unknown artefacts was a fantastic way of introducing mystery into the game and I hope that FD will continue to add further mysteries, puzzles and set goals that ultimately lead towards the appearance of aliens. However, despite some good initial work with the unknown artefacts I get the impression that FD peaked far too early. The initial buzz of discovery is gone and, at least in my estimation, we are left with the community desperately trying to decipher something that may not be there. (If this is the case then I think it reflects badly on FD that they have let the speculation go on for so long.)

BTW, I'm currently reading Starship Troopers so I appreciate the one-liner.
