The "Elite" experience at its best - and still only in early beta

Wow. What can I say? Awesome gameplay tonight!

I decided to ditch the twin gimballed multicannons I had slung under my Cobra, and test out something different. At Beagle 2 Landing, they were selling Level 2 Missile Launchers... so I grabbed two.

Went to load 'em up at the munitions store. "Holy cow", I thought to myself! 10,000CR each to refill. This had better be worth it.

Little did I know, it was going to be worth every credit!

I flew out of the station, and zipped around to a Signal Source on the other side of the planet. There was yet another Federal Anaconda in over his head, flapping around being attacked by some pirate types.

I targeted the first guy, scanned him - WANTED, of course - and put some pulse laser love into his hull while my new homing missiles locked on. Two missiles away (ca-ching!) and he was dust. Oh, nice... These were in the Alpha combat scenarios, weren't they.

So, played around some more with the pirates (which they didn't enjoy as much as I did, I fear), saved the hapless Anaconda, scooped up some bootleg liquor, then did the old "frame-shift shuffle" to re-enter the Signal Source.

What, MORE pirates attacking a Fed Anaconda? What's WITH these people here?

At that point, I got a bit carried away, and wasted those nasty aggressors without scanning them first. Got myself slapped on the wrist with a 200CR bounty, and a WANTED status. Aw, cute. I'm Bad again.

I decided to just pop back to Beagle 2 Landing, clear my name, and finish up for the night, so off I went back around the planet to the station.

Things looked fairly busy off in the distance, so I was a little cautious. Well, totally paranoid, in fact. I gave the engines a kick, switched to FA Off, dropped a Heat Sink and switched drives OFF altogether...

...and drifted in towards the Coriolis with my tongue stuck to the icy windscreen. Hey, I just wanted to see what it tasted like. Don't tell me you've never done that.

But... off at the other side of the station entrance, laser fire lit up the starscape. Something was going on over there, that's for sure. A couple of human players engaged in something fairly serious.

I eased my near-dormant ship around and managed to get a scan on an Eagle that crossed my sights. He came up... WANTED.

And here's me coming in stone-cold, with two brand new missile launchers to test!

I deployed hardpoints, fired up the drives, and gave that naughty Eagle a few stabs from the guns to get his attention. He spun around to face me...

My missiles locked on...

...and I launched a salvo of at least four heat-seekers dead-on in his face.

That Eagle boosted right under me, dropping off my scanners. Did I get him? Has he gone silent? Am I going to die now?

BOUNTY AWARDED - 40,000CR.

Whoooooaaaaah!

I turned away from the station, and got the hell out of dodge. Hyperspaced to Freeport, where some other player character took a rather unhealthy interest in me as I made my way into the station entrance. He went red on my scope. I went for the landing pad... like my life depended on it.

Down and safe! What a night!

So, to whoever I smoked with the 40,000CR bounty - thanks for the fantastic donation to the missile testing fund! It was timed to perfection! :)

Wow, nice story ;)

Is it that you do not appear on others' scanners when running cold and with FA off, just the inertia?

Cheers on the 40k bounty earned, Alex Ryder would go nuts :)

Using missiles... you will always be in the negatives unless you pad each fired missile with 2 500 cred kills or like the OP score a crazy bounty.

Im glad they are expensive though. They are very powerful with limited ammo.

Gratz.

Eagles are a lilttle weak imo but I'd imagine that bounty took a while to work up. No doubt you caught him by surprise ;)
