Blaine Address State of the Emperor



Chancellor Blaine made an appearance before the Senate today in order to provide an update on the Emperor’s health, following the attempt on the Emperor’s life a little over a month ago.

“I am pleased to report that the Emperor is recovering nicely,” the Chancellor began. “There was some small concern that an excessive amount of toxins had been allowed to take root in the Emperor’s body, but His Grace’s physicians have proven themselves more than up to the task of removing them.”

“Similarly, praise must go to Princess Lavigny, whose invaluable assistance in tracking down the conspirators led to the restoration of the Emperor’s justice in several dozen systems. A fact which I am sure will be of great comfort to those who were worried that the Duval legacy would be allowed to fall into ruin. Doubtless the Princess’s father would be extremely proud.”

“On that note, I am pleased to announce that His Grace, Emperor Hengist Duval, has begun to show signs of returning to good health. The Emperor’s personal physicians have assured me that should His Grace continue to heal at his current rate, the Emperor will almost certainly make a full recovery.”

“Hail the Emperor, bask in his glory.”

Excellent news about the Emperor. Hopefully, he'll make a full recovery and can personally lead investigations into the recent turmoil around the Imperial court. Is the Emperor proud of her or not? Does he know about his daughters 'investigation' at all? Saying would be isn't the same as saying is or even will.
Let's not forget that it's Blaine telling us this.

Joking aside, I actually hope he does make a full recovery. I'd be really interested to see where the story would lead to if - with four squabbling Imperial powers in play - the Emperor returned to active leadership.

The Emperor has been replaced by a Thargoid wearing a human skinsuit.

When will we finally be told the truth by our evil controlling governments, and that goes for the Federation and Alliance too, they're all in on it, saw no to rules maaaaan, Elvis spotted at Polaris, etc

With the Federal president lost in that unusual starship accident, the VP before that killed by, what was it, suspicious looking suicide, losing another major head of state in such a short time would probably have caused a lot of tension among their counterparts and replacements. I'd nearly start to worry about external forces trying to destabilise and weaken all of human-occupied space for some reason...
Ed Mahon would probably want to watch himself.

Side note: the Galnet article says “attempt on the Emperor’s life a little over a month ago”.

Ahem. The assassination attempt was first reported on 1st of April, which means it happened almost three months ago…

Obviously journalists’ attitude towards fact checking hasn’t improved over the last 1286 years ;)
