Now we can see HRP being tickled by anything but Rails and Hammers.

Lets hope that they BUFF all kinetics and missiles... Cos that wont have a knock on effect... muahahah

Modules you say........

Genuinely looking forward to this..

Yay, a module that increases the signature of the target being hit...
but at an increase of "somwhere around 100% more heat per shot".
Packhounds, commence suicide launch, because external missile launchers generate internal heat >.<

I was of the understanding that missiles were getting a buff to increase splash damage to all external modules and thrusters

It looks to me that the engineers update is designed to create options and end many meta's.
Very excited indeed!

Definitely. Some very interesting upgrade vs scenario combinations seem to be on the way.

Emissive munitions + incendiaries + upgraded missiles = potential to make silent running tankers more uncomfortable!

Yep but there is the FD buff style of anything from meh to DIE EVERYTHING DIE

If they want to combat silent running which isn't really the issue, HRP Stacking is....I expect the later.

Lets hope ships can keep their shields up......

I am honestly now looking forward to this, as I am a pretty good gosh darn good pilot... The many people who rely on an unbreakable ship, are in for a wake up.

Gonna be carnage

as a FAS pilot with HRPs stacked I too am looking forward to the changes ... SCBs have to fear the new Rails, SR has to fear the emissions, I have to load up on Point Defense and possibly even ECM... this seems AWESOME... Cheers FD good job---

Can't wait to crack a conda's shields while she's recharging them.

Made me spit tea all over my keyboard!

While 4 pips to engines for ludicrous speed!

And going to 1000% heat levels because of quad packhounds unloading.
Bacon needs a frying pan!!!

I seriously would welcome SR to be looked into, increasing the distance to track, detect and especially lock on
with missiles being tied to the heat level the ship is running on.
This would make people think twice before using rails and SR.
The effect on detection range, if any, simply is not enough.

what we don't know is how hard or long it will take to get all these new fancy engineer modifications. I mean, if getting them takes as long as say getting fed rank for a corvette then I would say the meta will survive for a good while yet.

People shouldn't just look at capability, but availability.

well said--- yay for beta

Loving all these new possible changes (all subject to beta feedback).

Combat is gonna be more like chess!

(Which is good by the way...)

it's not clear what will happen in 2.1, but it's clear that FD is adding mechanics into the game to counter SCB and silent running, and that is an exciting change to me.

You know? To get these Modifications one is going to have to do some grinding, I'm sure. This will certainly mean that, for a time, those most hoping for these advantages, will have to spend time acquiring them. Giving time to those that want to win the defenses to those mechanics they find disagreeable. The next series of complaints will commence once the path to gaining the new Modifications is released. One thing people hate more than the Meta-Monster is the grind.

All of this chatter about killing a Meta is exactly why no developer should cater to the PvP crowd. Balancing around player complaints is a sure recipe for frustration. If FD can successfully spread the threats out, so players will have to balance their builds to be best prepared for everything, it will be a miracle, one I hope for. But, more likely is that with each change comes the new Meta. That's a surety. And, with each new Meta come the call to nerf it. This to is inevitable. So....

The Meta is dead. Long live the Meta!

Even if they succeed in creating multiple PvP meta builds with significant differences between them, but similar win chances in a fight, that won't quite solve the problem of Open. It will give the PvP players a bit more variety when they fight each other, but unless PvE (NPC bounty hunting, exploration, mining,...) builds also have a decent chance against those PvP builds, it won't encourage other players to return to Open.
