The endgame works well with a Cutter. But once a player gets there it is a brand new game. Given combat it starts with light ships. Then medium ones and later heavy ones which takes a new learning curve to be good using them. If you are a happy light fighter pilot and don't move on you will not be happy with an Anaconda or know how to outfit a Corvette much less a Cutter.
Actually most of the skills are transferable. But enoyment is the main factor. I don't think getting a big ship means it feels like a new game whatsoever. If anything its like getting back to bottom rung handling on E rated starter trade ships. Smaller ships keep the game challenging and getting a viable loaout, especially for PvP, is way harder than a big ship. All the tolerances are slimmer and you are forced to comprimise. That tends not to be a thing with big ships. All the guns, all the shields, all the internals.. Ez mode outfitting.
