The endless search?

Hey guys, this has been discussed probably too much already ;)

There was a lot of chatter about not being able to find ship upgrades, so Frontier added more needles to the hay stack.

I dont feel this has made a difference, I can still spend an hour or more searching different stations. Id like to see in the future a more generalized system...(especially for ships) Currently there are things you can do that will help, like going to high tech systems etc, but theres no guarantee and frustration levels start climbing.

what do you guys think?

On another note, Im happy to see dev replies rescently clearing up a few things, wings etc.

One love,
CMDR Grinchy

Keep exploring and you will find whatever you seek. I was out exploring the neighborhood today and found an excellent high tech station just 2 jumps from my temporary home base. Just had to pick the right direction to explore is all. A2 jump drive? Oh yeah! Don't have the creds for it tho... yet.

Think of higher end stuff as rare drops. In doing this, there is no definitive ship build. Look for high tech systems for the crazy loot. Refineries provide more mining related stuff. Agriculture is more general, like scanners and low yield cargo. I'm not having a hard time finding what I need anymore.

Yeah, the problem is I don't like mindlessly exploring...

I mean scavenger hunts are kind of fun but I wish there was more direction < it could be there just doesn't do it for me ;)

That's a pity. Personally, I'm rather a hitchhiker in the galaxy. Maybe when I have seen enough of it I will write a guide.

Edit: You sound so sad. Well, maybe you can get a pet for your ship when they put them in.... I'm presuming they will at some point. By all means, please do. Very comforting!

And maybe one day you will understand that just because I don't like aspects of Elite, that makes it ok for you to mock me and hint towards a different game.

Grow up.

Ooookay... but then, what would be 'exploring' if not 'learning about your surroundings', 'learning where to find things' and 'learning how to earn money'? All this IS exploring and as much as I might agree with you that "mindless exploring" is not the way to go, finding those systems/stations to upgrade your ship is exactly the opposite to "mindless", if you ask me.

I wasn't mocking you at all, I DO find it sad you have such limited vistas! And I'm not at all sure what game I am supposed to be hinting towards. Please enlighten me.

Really, you NEED A pet for your ship! I hope you find one soon after launch! It will cheer you up immeasurably.

Unless you know what your looking for is there, its best guess... Best guess = no promises = exploring partly blind.

Exploring should be mapping unknown systems... Not a treasure hunt in a future galaxy, that in my opinion, if they have faster than light speed travel... Should be better informed.

Pets ive heard are confirmed for Star Citizen... I dont understand how FD implementing pets will help my issue, please enlighten me?

The wiki lists a place of sale for each ship in the ship descriptions (at least those ships I've checked). I agree that ships should be easier to locate. Why not make them easier to find ingame if everyone's just going to look it up on the net eventually anyway?

As for equipment, I think that's alright as it is. I enjoy that particular treasure hunt, although I expect that to become thoroughly documented online eventually, if it isn't already. However, I find that the ship part listings could have been much better implemented. As they are now, they are bordering on being obtuse. ALL available ship parts should be shown, even if my ship can't presently fit them. I traveled hundreds of light years in search of better cargo racks only to discover that if your ship presently can't fit a better module, it simply isn't shown. The better cargo racks had been in my home base system all along. There should also be options to filter ship parts. It shouldn't be necessary to scroll through all internal slot parts if you're only looking for a new shield generator for example.

Well... the original version of Elite had pets... lots of them! In fact it's the first game I recall having anything like that. I'm assuming this version will too. Guess we will have to wait and see. I may be speaking out of turn, so will let it go at that. But if you find one, get it. They are fun!

SC will have pets??? Not in my 325i!!! There will be NO hair on the upholstery or litterbox smell!!!
