"The Enemy's Gate is Down"

I have been playing lately with orbital lines on and I have become much more aware of perspective during my travels. That line from Ender's game really made sense to me when coming in to a system today and heading toward a resource collection site. I felt I was pulling up and coming at it from the bottom of the rings and I must be wired weird as I don't like the feeling of being the shark and going up to meet my targets. I like the feeling of coming out of the sun from above them and dropping the hammer. Anyway... That line came to my head and I just did a quick barrel roll and ta da, I am a screaming eagle (Actually ASP) coming out of the sun descending on my target. I do the same thing when coming in to dock at a station. I have to do the barrel roll to make if feel as if I am coming down to the mail slot rather than going up to it.

Anyone else out there experience this or am I just !

hehe you aint alone lol.....played the first Elite.....read Enders Game....played ED and thought the same....but you dont need lines....down is anyway you want it to be in space :D

Actually the lines are growing on me a bit. I like the elliptical reference they given when coming out of supercruise to dock with the big stations. Since their docking ports face the planet or to the middle of the system when no planet present, I use the lines as reference to help me determine my approach.

I played the first Elite also and just don't remember well enough to know if I felt this way or not... Well I am 50 so perhaps I am coming down with a case of CRS (Can't Remember S#^T)

Yep, I do this too. I think I do this also because in most ships the view would be obstructed by my chair and feet, so it gives a better view to roll over and "drop" to it.

I am in the habit of rolling to be able to pull up to engage a target, probably because of my time in flight sims. Whatever makes you comfy.
