I've noticed that there is a separate terrain when you place plants, being mostly similar to grass. On face value it would seem a near pointless addition to the placeable terrains, though for modders at the very least it would be considered valuable, being another slot for replacement. I see you're not really to keen on redoing textures too much, though I feel that differentiating this texture a bit more colour wise could be good if upgraded to a placeable terrain (for example you could desaturate it a bit to give it more of a silvery leaf type texture).
Also, when placing plants, the only terrain not overridden by this Leaf litter is Sand. I'd say that at the very least Dirt should be given this treatment as well, though I'd also say that the Crag foliage in particular really would benefit from Rock getting the treatment, being difficult to actually see from a distance on Leaf Litter & likely on Dirt as well.
If none of this is possible, then I am fine to accept that.
