The expected ETA of 2.3-2.4?

I cant remember which video or stream it was but there was talk around the work behind these recent updates, that many needed the ground work laid first which was mainly in place now. My reading between the lines of this is that the next updates after 2.2 will be relatively quicker than the last couple now these systems are in place.

Still with Oct release for 2.2, my guesstimate would be 2.3 around Nov/Dec and depending on what 2.4 actually is, that may come not long after the new year.

Then perhaps a slightly shorter Season 3 timeline to get things back on an annual cycle.

Lets wait and see :)

They said 2.2 will come mid october, also they didn't show anything at Gamescom of 2.3 and 2.4 so I think we will see 2.3 in Feb 2017.

I was expecting to see some multicrew demo, but no, only SLF, tourism and a few minor QOL features.

I waited Gamescom for something good at Elite Dangerous, something really good but no :( Maybe they have things under the hood but at least they should have said it.

Short answer: not anytime soon.

Long answer: if 2.3 makes it for Christmas, it would be within its "fall" schedule, but i seriously doubt it, since its features are probably a lot more tricky than 2.2 features.
We don't have even a supposed schedule for 2.4, so that's surely for next year.

My guess is that both 2.3 and 2.4 won't be coming this year.

About aliens, i hope they won't make a dedicated headline feature for them, both for the "surprise" effect and for the poor "luck" of most of their headliners...

How about we wait for 2.2 to come first? You can bet there will be patches 2.2.1 through 2.2.x coming after it as things require fixing and tweaking.

Since bad reviews and "I quit" posts always peak just after a version release, and good reviews and increased player numbers come in the gap between releases, Frontier have moved to a policy of releasing less often so that we enjoy the game more.

March april 2.3

July 2.4

Gamescom 2017 --》announced elite 3.0

For october Elite 3.0

( just speculating but it seems reasonable looking at the development process of Horizon )

To be fair, it's a combination for the "i quit" posts.

First, it's not the update people *want* - yes we all want the next update to magically deliver walking around ships/stations/planets-with-atmoshper/hunt dinosaurs (and there will be arguement over which one of those MUST come first).

The updates we have gotten, such as CQC was some high-level planning.
We saw the ship launched fighters back before GDC 2015.
So they were working on assets, and gameplay waaay back then.

CQC was an offshoot that allowed to stress test the game on the Xbox, the control systems and intince the Xbox players into the game.
CQC was a great sucess for the company, considering all that hard work now folds back neatley into the main game.

So they got to update 2 products, stress test, free advertising, with one project called CQC.
That's some high-level smarts.

Powerplay, as game mechanics go was some extra grind, some extra carrots for the players.
But the underying Politics, back stories, updates to the background-sim and how the bubble functions - are in invaluble and integral part of the fabric of the game.
Even if the "game-mechanic" didn't fair too well, PP underlying requirement to Elite Dangerous story is paramount.

1.4 and 1.5 what were "they" about, ships and tweaking the mining? I can't remember.

So much has gone into the game from 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2

The amount of fresh licks of paint, here and there, creature comforts, as well as the headline features.....

Just some nitpicking, since ETA stands for estimated time of arrival you don't need to write expected ETA, it is like saying LCD displays ;)

At a guess? I reckon we will see 2.3 around mid-December, & 2.4 around Valentine's Day 2017. I do hope it is sooner than that, though.
