"The Explorers Bucket List"

Hello Everyone o7.

First off this is my first time starting a thread on the forum, so I apologise in advance in case I do something wrong like post this in the wrong section, or essentially duplicated a thread thats already out there.
Essentially what I wanted to do was create what is essentially an "explorer to do list" for myself. These include a couple of past expoditions(of various sizes) I thought I'd follow the rout for. and some suggestions from other people
I've been playing Elite for a couple of years now but never really left the bubble and I've been wanting to dive headlong into exploring (Because I'm insane like that)

Note: anything marked with a (?) I have limited knowledge on either where it is or what it is about.

"Explorers Bucket List" in no particular order:
1. Breadcrumb Mission(?)
• go to a listening post in SYNUEFAI SS-Y B18-0 to start
2. Go to Sagittarius A*
3. See the destroyed fleets at Maia.
4. Go to Beagle Point. (not until I’ve engineered my FSD to the max.)
5. Go to Colonia.
6. See the Barnacles.
7. Get Hyperdicted(If I can)
8. Solve some guardian ruins(?)
9. Formadine rift mystery.
10. Find the voyager.
11. Canyon Racing(?)
• Dunno where.
14. Visit Thargoid Crash sites.(?)
15. Visit Starship One Crash site.(?)
16. Sagittarius-Carina Mission
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/241026-Sagittarius-Carina-Mission-Route-and-camps

That's my "Explorer's Bucket list" so far If anyone has any further suggestions or any have any links to posts about stuff I'm missing info for it would be appreciated. I would search for stuff myself but I'm stil

P.S. If people are interested I could probably upload images from the travels mentioned if for any reason they'd be interested in my progress on the bucket list? That is something I could probbably do

Thanks, CMDRs o7

Be aware of this trap though, I too have fallen in it, where you rather than exploring for exploration's sake strike things of a list, like this. Not saying that it cannot be good waypoints and a way to start your journey but be sure to know your intentions or you might end up disappointed.

If a bucket list is a list of things you must do, then you need to add a couple of things to yours.

Get back in one piece.

Sell the data.

Just my thoughts and good luck with your quests.

For me the bucket list was
Unlock Sol - first thing I did once I got out of my starterwinder.
Sag A* - done it twice
Beagle Point - done it
Betelgeuse - done it
VY Canis Majoris - I'm there now
Horsehead Nebula - Frontier locked it
Polaris - Frontier never unlocked it
Elite Ranked - done it

After that, there's a very long to-see list but it's just too long and disorganized to put in the bucket list. Expands all the time too.

Apart from Horsehead and Polaris my bucket list is done. Maybe there's some on there that you can do.

Not sure I ever really had a "Bucket List" per se, as it's more of a progression and "What's next?" A* to Elite rank to Beagle to Circumnavigation... it's all part of growth and progression. What am I ready for; what's the next challenge to face?

Mine was:

Go to Sag A* - did it
Go to BP - did it. On my way back out there now and I'm taking a roundabout way to get there.
Visit all the local nebula - almost completed
Visit all the giant and super giant stars in the local area - almost complete
I've seen a Thargoid wreck.
Investigated signals (breadcrumb missions)
I want to be hyerdicted, but in no hurry to get it done.

I will come up with more when I can think of them or when FD releases new content

Don't just limit yourself to the list you have or it will become the end all of things to do. Above all: Have fun!!

My was
Coalsack Nebula - did it
Barnards Loop including Running man, Horse Head and Witchhead - did it before the permit lock
Colonia - did it
Sag A* - did it
Visit Super giants like Betelgeuzem VY Canis Majoris and others - did it
Visit Rho Cassiopeiae (a supergiant near the Formidine Rift) - did it in my 3rd attempt (max jump at 118 Ly)
Visit several Nebulae - did it
Visit Eagle Nebula in a Cutter - still have to do.

Keep it up Cmdrs

I'm out there and I don't have a destination. Hell one station is very much like the next anyway, out in the black I treat them like a bank to trade my data.

Only been out 10 days, I left Station X in the Crab Nebula this morning with a heading of away from the bubble. Where it takes me, I don't really care. I'm honking every system, and scanning anything that looks interesting. I've landed on planets that no other player has ever seen. I'm seeing systems that no other player has seen. I shall keep going until I decide I've had enough, or I sustain too much module damage that my AFMU can't cope. Then I will simply self destruct and end up back at the Crab , hell there's worse places to re spawn.

My only regret is that I didn't bring a buddy along for the trip, it would have been cool to share the experience. I'm in a Dbx, single seater, so I can't even invite anyone via multi crew . I'm not missing the engineering grind or the mission grind one bit.

No, my bucket list is the galaxy.

Suggestions noted. Thanks guy's

Thanks everyone who replied your suggestions have been added to the list. But I'm still new to the forum so I don't have enough reputation to have post editing permissions. So I'll wait till a few things have been added before uploading a Ver.2.0 of the list (probably in the same thread) save contesting the thread with minor fixes to the list.

Thanks Pantast, I'll be sure to add the supergiants to the list. I don't have any nebula on the list because if I'm heading that way I'll generally diverge a bit to visit them anyway.

Thanks Roqinn if you have a list of the giants and supergiants handy could you pm me and I'll ad a section to the list.

Hey objetum thanks for the advice. I'll try not to get to absorbed in the list. I think I'll do one thing on the list at a time and each time I get back I'll spend some time playing/winging (plus a bit of the dreaded engineer grind) with friends before heading back out again

Thanks Arry, always intended. :)

Thanks CMDR Murf. Don't know why unlocking sol didn't occur to me...I don't even need to leave the bubble for that.

Mine has 332 items and counting.

332 items and not one suggestion. Hmm?

Whats the system name?? Sounds like something I want to try.

Same. If anyone knows the system name could you either pm me and/or post it here.

I always thought the Great Annihilator was more fun to visit than Sag A*

Hey khaos thanks for pointing it out but the Great Annihilator was actually on the list I just forgot to add it to the forum post.

P.S. if anyone is reading this thread after this post it doesn't necessarily mean the list is complete. My intention is to keep adding to it so that even well established explorers can have a look and maybe spot something they haven't done.

Fly safe CMDRs. Maybe we'll meet at a stunning vista out there in the black. [yesnod] Or if you're heading out sometime Sean's me a friend request. CMDR Bryan Iscariot in game and I might accompany you. [big grin]

One of my favourite places is an Earth-like world with a very close-orbiting landable moon:

Some amazing views as you're driving around. And as a bonus, the ELW is orbiting a gas giant.

It's on the Passenger mission boards as "Earth Like Dance With Giant", or simply go to the IC 1396 SECTOR RU-F D11-7 system.

Woah. Thanks speccy definitely been added to the list.

I've a nice galvanised zinc bucket.
Not much of a list but its the only one I have

Interesting. What do you keep in said bucket? Iron Orchid. (After the Salomé event I'm gonna guess community salt. ;) )

Always good to see someone heading out into the Unknown - o7

Some things you could add:

Find or get first discovery of a certain system type - what the definition of this might be is up to you, one for me personally would be to find a system that has more than 2 Giant or Supergiant stars. I'm not sure if this is even possible, but it might be.

Get a first discovery on a black hole/neutron/anything else that you might find special.

Find an isolated system, or group of systems, that no one has ever seen. An example would be Beagle Point, way back when.

Discover something that you feel is worthy of a Passenger Mission POI, submit it, and it gets accepted and added to the game.

Survive Explorer's End. I recommend making this one the last entry on the list.

Visit the places related to the Formidine Rift mystery, and while you are there, take a stab at finding something heretofore not found.

Visit locations from popular culture, such as LV-426, Vulcan, etc. If you happen to find something that looks like a Derelict Reaper (Mass Effect), and it has a similar description, please PM me the location.

Take a screenshot or make a short video that shows you doing something of questionable intelligence while out in the middle of nowhere. Examples would be flying between stars that are really close together, or flying upside down really close to the ground, or seeing how many backflips you can complete in the SRV.

Find that place out there that makes you sit back in your chair, and the only word that comes to mind is "Damn."

Just some ideas - have fun out there, and be safe.

You have to have something so you can swill the flightdeck down after those long Exploration trips. Salt is no good, sometimes it all needs a good soke in Jeyes fluid to get the stench of conspiracy out of the plating.
