The FAStasctic FAS :)

Ok, I have to write this, I love the FAS.

I know, I know, I hate feds too, but this ship makes me grin more the the vulture, one of my favourite ships in the game. I'm so glad I gave it a try.

It's just as maneuvarable as the vulture, in its own unique way, it's got more weapons, can use those weapons for longer, and has so many unique quirks like the little sunroof above you that I love to line up my destination targets in, the menacing sound it makes and amazing yaw speed.

Currently in a high res practicing at flying the ship and those window sills are great for lining up your gun convergence, plus the line up great with the supervisor lines.

Sorry I'm rambling, but I love the FAS!

After the pain that was the FDL (that I sold), I was worried the rank grind for this ship would make me feel even worse after I flew it. Now that grind was totally worth it.

I feel like I should thank Fdev for making this ship, so I will. Can't wait to see how I can find ways to love this ship even more :).

Welcome to the club :)

I enjoy both the FDS and the FAS. One detail I love about both is the sound. When you get up to speed and make a really sharp turn, the entire hull groans and creaks under the strain. Feels like something's going to tear off... It's great!

I am a FAS lover as well. I have been able to balance mine out to be a great BGS Raider. I can dominate in HRES/CZ's, haul 32 units of cargo, keep a A4 Fuel scoop, carry an SRV, and an ADS all at the same time. (Strictly in PvE of course.) The Combat only Module Slots and MRP's have made the FAS top notch.

The only knock I can give the thing is the weapon split, with one hard point on top. But, I have gotten around that by breaking my triggers up by 'top and bottom' rather than by size. 3 lasers on the bottom, and a nasty old cannon on top, and I can stay on station for a very long time. Only using the cannon to punch out PP's on larger ships.

I wish you good luck with your FAS Commander. o7

Core > Delacy > Guta!!

also, Feds FTW YoO!!!

Honestly, I'd put Delacy at the end if only for their terrible cable management... it's important!

Good choice of ship though, imo. FAS is a solid ol' girl, though I've barely touched it. I keep going to the Vulture simply because I'm more familiar with its playstyle (spent a good long while in the Vulture at this point, compared to other ships).

Interesting to see you didn't get on with the FDL. Some folks might call you a heathen for that ;)

And on the 8th day, God made the FAS. And it was good. Very good. Very very good.

On the 9th day God said 'Let there be medium rail guns, but no bigger, lest your holy spaceship melt. The wise shall mount them on the FAS I made yesterday', and then he added 'And great big plasma accelerators too, YES!' And they too were good. Now go forth and smite those Imperial scum in My name!

It's a great ship, apart form the shields, but the best part is when you can keep your target at the proper distance so that all weapons are hitting.

I have never been able to cozy up to my FdL. I don't like sitting so far back from the tip of it, and even though the thrusters are good, I always end up a long way away from my target after a turn. The FdL just punishes you for flying out of the 'blue zone'. I prefer the Vulture/FAS flight characteristics.

I hope for a fighter with the Utility Slots and Firepower of the FdL, but with flight characteristics more like the FAS.

My only experience with gutamaya is the courier, which didn't stack up too well against the vulture, and the imp eagle. But I love delacy ships. Viper 3 is great entry fighter, second only to imp eagle (needs the right setup), cobra 3 is great at not getting caught, and python is a fantastic medium pad hauler, I could truck all day in that thing.

So I'd put delacy first, then probably core dynamics, then gutamaya, but with a shout out to the imp eagle.

And God said "make it ugly, like really really ugly, like a 5 year old with an old shoe box, some stale doritos and a tub of glue type ugly" :p

A great combat ship though and clearly loved by many...shame about the grind wall.

Are back up in 18 seconds. ;)

There's a school of thought to which I subscribe that says if you put a shield on it at all, you're just wasting an armor and resist slot. ;)

Or just put all pips to systems and have them back up before they even fire a missile ;)

You don't need all pips to systems, if your biweave is engineered right it will not empty the capacitor, just use pips for resistance when taking alpha or face tanking. But like I say, don't bother with a shield at all, put 3 pips to engines and 3 to weapons and just pew pew freely, cos in the FAS you should not be face tanking, OR taking anybody's full alpha.

I know that. And why would you with its maneuvarability, but IF your shields went down, you'd put full pips to systems and have that anti missile barrier up before they hit.

^^^ Yep Yep

I love my no shield build, but I always keep a small bi weave shield in the station to change out when needed (those scramble spectrum lasers can get annoying)... And I'll take a quick regen with 1 pip in systems over any other ship...

OP: FAStasctic should be the name of your ship!!! I love a Pro FAS thread!

The FAS, imo, is one of the most versatile med fighters in the game..
With a few extra mods and weapons at a station ready for outfitting... bounty hunts, CZ's, missions, PvP, pirating...
Ohhh, and ugly?... who you calling ugly

Already got a name sorry, it's the boxtank! (It's a reference to another game). Also, I like the boxy shape, it makes me laugh how a brick can be this maneuvarable :).

Oh and side note, when close to an object, rather than just a tiny annoying blinking light, the whole cockpit lights up! It's a disco party!

Edit: and you have a co pilot camera! The more I mess around in this ship the more gems I find! When will it end? Lol.
