Engineers The 'Favour' Mechanic

I'm with @OP.

i don't mind having a hardcore extra amount of cargo/materials to get a special effect.

but rerolling 4*6 times sturdy/lightweight mods, because it is the cheapest way to get back to G5... you watch the cargo animation .... it is horrrible.

did anybody ever read what the engineers are saying on screen? stuff like: something rare happened ... a special! extraordinary! --- no, as expected.

and than, with loosing reputation, the welcoming text of engineers .... he doesn't remember that i had G5 access 10 minutes ago?

it is just silly.

Well, he did give you G5 access until you angrily jumped up and down and DEMANDED that he takes this product back to his workshops and keep on retuning it until eventually this little effect that only has a few percent change of appearing turns up. Making those kinds of demands don't put you in anyone's good books.

... yes, and because of that he pretends he has never seen me.... there are several engineers which i got to G5 - G3 -G1. either you can "call a favor" like now, than the mechanic should be part of the "story", or not.

anyway, mainthing for me is, that doing junk-upgrades ("do you really want to bin that?" "yes, are you a bit stupid to think i want L4 heavy "sturdy mounts" on my speed courier, professor?") and waiting for uninteresting stats and spinning wheel of specials is simply annoying.

Yes you are. The effects are not supposed to be easy to get.

They are "easy" to get.

The word you're looking for is "quick".

Anyone can get Class 5 mods, if they just have the patience to keep running around like a gopher intern. It's very easy. It just takes fraking forever.

You do skip that animation, right? Your two posts suggest that you sit through the animation every time.

I skip it. 3x g3 and 3x g4 are completed within a minute or so. No animations. Just a load of clicks. I just upgraded three pulse lasers to rapid fire last night. I needed to call in three favours. The whole thing took a very short amount of time.

Not that I particularly think it's a good mechanic. I just don't think making the blueprint require loads more materials would be a better solution.

Not loads more, less than what you need now, as soon as you start running out of a few mats, you either have to farm or burn through all your very common ones. I'd rather spend the time farming the mats than crafting something 50 times. But then because of the 1000 mat max, it can be good to get rid of 60 nickel.

will watch out for the button.

i honestly didn't know that.

well, it doesn't make the mechanic better, but easier to cope with...

Actually I would be with the OP if the storage was large enough (maybe doubled to get good).
I always find myself full so no, please
