The fine details of bounty hunting

So I've got a vulture, and I've got a high intensity resource site, the rest should be history right? Well apparently not. Some people claim massive profits, 2.7 mil an hour etc. What am I missing? What is the secret behind really pulling in credits via bounty hunting?

Thanks in advance.

Try a normal resource site an hope you get one spawning pythons dropships an clippers , not having to reload helps also

Reset the instance multiple times until you see wanted dropships/clippers/pythons/vultures. Use a KWS. There is no magical formula to it really, just a dumb RNG roll.

In one day i reset instances only 2 - 5 times in normal circumstances, and i get Pythons, Clippers, Vultures, Federal Drop-ships, Vipers and Cobras.
I don't care. I pick first what come to me and i play.

Enjoy in combat.
In time you will get big ships.

As well as relying on RNG for a good spawn, becoming hostile with the local pirate faction greatly increases the spawning of large wanted ships. Keep an eye out for yellow exhaust trails.

When first entering the RES, look for a wanted Clipper, Dropship, Python, or Vulture. If you don't see one, go out 6 km above the RES and asteroids and quit to main menu and rejoin. Keep repeating until a large wanted ship appears.

RES farming in a wing or with another CMDR seems to break a good spawn sometimes.

Like the others mentioned there's still some RNG involved - though becoming hostile to the local pirate faction does change things up.

I'll take my Vulture into a HIRES and just start shooting, regardless of big or small fry. The small fry dies so fast that it pays out as good as the big fry in the end.

About 1.5 Million Cr/h is possible in a Vulture with 2 pulse lasers and 4A SCB - Usually they're depleted after around an hour for me so I'll cash in at a station.
If you're willing to invest a bit more, go check the BBs, especially in surrounding systems at take the pirate kill missions. At 'Dangerous' I'm offered missions that ask to kill 12 pirates and pay around 500k Cr. Nice bonus ;)
