A ground level vehicle, travelling in a straight line. It certainly didn't achieve 340 m/s and didn't look anything like the image below.

Sorry to seem cynical but that clip seemed to be more about the egos of a few blokes than the train.

The conquest of space has not been built in a day

:)

If the conquest of space is to be achieved with a load of men talking and a load of other men in suits clapping their hands then we can plan our holidays to Andromeda.

This is just another of those rip offs which will achieve nothing.

Space hasn't been con-quested.

A few carefully selected individuals sit around a few miles above the Earth for no apparent reason. But already the talk is visiting the stars. Even Stephen Hawking is at it.

It's not going to happen. There is and won't be, any conquest of space. It's just smoke and mirrors. No colonies. No trips to space.

This so called test is nothing of the kind. Just a fram sent along a track at what appears to be, about 50 MPH.

It may be more, but they don't say.

It may be in slow motion, for what purpose?

It isn't exactly pretty is it?

I'm astonished that so many seem to be taken in by this idiocy.

But Americans have a lot of money to get rid of and they don't seem very eager using any of it to lift their own 40 million or so homeless out of poverty.

But I'm a bit more convinced by an episode of Star Trek.

It's funny how they seek cooperation with our small corrupt government in an attempt to route that EU funds into the project. If they can source toilet repairs for 300 bucks apiece, they can help with our Hyperloop, right?

Aye! :D Rome not built up within one day, this is just merely a pre alfa release or tech demo. The real thing only comes later.

Yes this kind of project is serious. It requires a lot of money. The SNCF in France has invested in this project. So it is maybe serious

Can we have some references to these claims of international support please?

The site is so elaborate and contrived it must have taken tips from whoever designed Frontier's.

Also, I hate to be the one to point this out but the only technology shown so far has been a rather scaled down and considerably slower version of the well established Maglev.

The new tech is the vacuum tunnel which has not appeared.

A fancy model of a fancy train, though I've seen more convincing models of the Star Trek Enterprise. But no vacuum tunnel so far.

Hmmm.

Id rather not undergo the G-forces that thing is under thanks :)

Wouldn't worry.

It sounds like a major con to me.

All that's been seen so far is an apparent Maglev traveling at what appears to be about 50MPH.

The claims that it is being sponsored by SNCF or anyone else are specious and so far unverified.

Now what's happening with that plan for a one way trip to Mars?
