ANNOUNCEMENT The first three tie-in books are out!

Hello all

Apologies for the shameless promotion, but I know a lot of people don't visit the Fiction forum.

Just a quick note to say that the first three official ELITE: DANGEROUS novels are now out on ebook in the UK. What better way to spend the day waiting for Alpha 4?

Amazon US have somehow created phantom duplicate entries for the books, which WILL NOT EVER WORK - if you've been told that your preorder has been pushed back to the 22nd, or you get 'not yet available' when you look at the books, they're the wrong editions. Please cancel your preorder and use the below links:

http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Docking...&ie=UTF8&qid=1400151441&sr=1-6&keywords=elite

http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Wanted-...&ie=UTF8&qid=1400151441&sr=1-4&keywords=elite

http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Nemoren...&ie=UTF8&qid=1400151441&sr=1-5&keywords=elite

Shameless promotion ends.

I have bought, and read the first chapter of, 'Docking is Difficult'. So far it's very entertaining. There is one thing I dislike immensely about it though... it doesn't say when Alpha 4 is getting released today!

How could the author blatently miss such a huge plot twist out of the story and expect any of us to treat the book as a serious enterprise!?

I mean, talk about missing a trick, sheesh! ( ;) )

Read a good quarter of Elite: Wanted last night.

So many tantalising descriptions of places, gadgets and organisations that might be in the game on release or in the expansions!

Great read so far, although I'm a wee bit tired having sat up until gone 3

Nothing planned at the moment, but if you want to contact a publisher in your country, tell them there'd be interest and send them my way, please do!

Hmm, when I click your US links, I get not yet available. I'll check back on my lunch and see if anything changed in that regard.

I clicked on those links but when it comes up it says "title not yet available" even though the release date says May 15. I asked on the fiction form but maybe someone here knows...is it because it's too early on the 15th on the states or has something gone horribly wrong?

We have no idea what's going on in the US - some people have made it work, those links are correct, but some people are still getting the 'not yet available' message. We're working on it, so sorry, but please bear with us. Amazon can be a law unto themselves sometimes...

No sweat. Just checked again and it just says "not available for download"...which is different from "not yet available" so something is stirring. Anyway, either way I'm buying all three so no worries.

Hi Marcus,

I know what you mean, they may have delayed it for a week:

Under Product details:

Publisher: Gollancz (May 22, 2014)

And I got this two days ago:

"Hello from Amazon.com,

Elite: Wanted

Elite: Docking is Difficult

Link to the Kindle Title: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JJ3261A

The old delivery date was: 5/15/2014.

The new delivery date is: 5/22/2014.

We'll keep your pre-order open on your account and deliver the title to your Kindle as soon as the publisher releases the digital version.

As a reminder, you can always change, cancel, or view the status of your orders in Your Account here:

I hope that helps :)

I do find that very curious, since Amazon.com sent me a copy of the books without any problems and their site still shows them available (release date as 15th).

Why would they release it for the US customers a week late? To change around some spellings of gray/grey etc? :S

No, the one that says available May 22 is the incorrect duplicate copy of the book. if you see up above in the thread ( or in another thread) there are links to the correct book which actually shows release date May 15

Docking is difficult had me giggling from the dedication to his mum on page one, more so at the Braben(TM) jumper. get it if you haven't already.

I used the links in the first post, and they're all saying that they're not available yet for the US version. :(

When I click on the Kindle link, it tells me it's not available til the 22nd. Dumb Amazon... think I'll write 'em a nasty letter! :)

(Then I tried buying a Kindle edition off the UK site and Amazon just couldn't believe I'd be that cheeky! Turned me down, they did!)
