The Formadine Rift Area - still reasons to go or is this thing played out?

In January of this year I took a "vacation" out to the tail of the Orion arm, made it to Eta Carena and NGC 3199. There's an update coming up this January 2020, probably concerning exploration fixes and I have that "itch" to get lost for a bit. I flipped a coin last time and went tailward. This time, however, I'd like to get lost someplace famous, specifically a more challenging area such as the Formadine Rift.

Now, I've looked at the huge 719-page thread already posted and it looks like things are still working there but to be honest, 719 pages is a lot to go through. I did manage to plow through the first page of it with all the juicy details of what's been found/determined so far. I do have a ship that can do around 42.2 LY/jump (AspX including fuel scoop and SRV) and have plans to add an extra fuel tank for those areas lean on main-sequence stars.

I don't expect to find Raxxla, but are there any suggestions (visual things that should be looked at for wallpaper things)?

I would say, the Zurara (Syreadiae JX-F C0) and the abandoned settlements (e.g. Eafots LZ-H b10-0 iirc) are always worth a visit, when you are in the area. :)
You can also still find plenty of undiscovered systems out there, that may bring nice vistas to you ;)

The Formadine Rift is the graveyard of potential. It symbolizes when Thargoids were a frightening, real threat, when humanity assumed it would need to move half way across the galaxy to escape them. How did this story end? They inconvenienced us for a season, and then one week we marched into their home nebula and pushed them halfway across the galaxy, never to be seen again.

I'm beginning to think JJ Abrams plays ED and gets his plot ideas from Frontier.

Ok, thanks for the suggestions. BTW, is Bovomit WY-R d4-16 (Bovomit) still a permit-locked area? The data I looked up may be old now.
The rift is what happens when you create a game without a subscription that needs continual creative content for its lifetime.
Perhaps they should ask us for suggestions. ;)

Unless you want to find Raxxla, not really
Any reason to think that Raxxla is in the rift?
Less than zero.
I had always thought that it was supposed to be somewhere in the rift but that no one had ever found it. The two things bouncing around in my head is that it might be a ship in the rift (since you're not supposed to need Horizons to find it) or in a 500 (5,000?) light year range from SOL (direction to be determined by the person that finds it there). No matter. I may just go there for a while just because.

Exploration needs no reason to go - just a destination star marked off so you know when to turn back.

Why do you shout SOL, or is it a play on words ("S*** Outta Luck)?
You're referring to ".....or in a 500 (5,000?) light year range from SOL (direction to be determined by the person that finds it there)." correct?

SOL is the name of our sun. I guess I should have spelled it "Sol", correct?

IMHO the Formidine Rift is like any other outer Arm Sector.

Low System Density, still plenty of untagged Systems though. But other than that, just another procedural arm of the procedural Galaxy.

Expectations should be left behind, otherwise not much more than a loud "Felota!" might be heard after some time - and finding nothing but standard Systems ;)
