Frontier Chief Executive David Braben said he expects further revenue growth in the future when its third franchise is released in 2018. It said the game is based on a Hollywood movie of "global renown" but didn't name the movie.

So, what could it be?

So, let's narrow the list down a bit.
First let's remove anything not "global renown", i.e. anything new(ish). That leaves us with ...

Jay And Silent Bob Reboot

Power Rangers 2

The list goes on, but those are the most notable. It is very probable I've missed off what film it is, but in that list, I think we can remove anything that will be developed by another games studio. Disney for example have their own games studio, so anything they own (and that is a lot of stuff) is probably not Frontier's 2018 release. That leaves us with ...

My best guess is Frontier are going to do the game version of Ready Player One. It's a film of a popular book. It's not had a game made of it yet. And Frontier love their sci-fi.
