The future

I read from the news letter that Frontier we'll be revealing their next original self-published title.

I wonder if its to soon to step into another game when this game need so much more.
They need to relocate developers to develop the new game and it can just mean that Elite will get less power. Updates and expansions will take longer.
After all this game is the first that was founded by pledging for Frontier.

We have not heard of any time line regarding this game. When and what expansions we can expect. They are extremely dull when it comes to that type of communication.
Only thing we know is that they talked about station and ship walk around and planetary landings. But its just nothing more than rumors as nothing have been confirmed. And now we will get news about another game title they gona develop.

I do understand that a company have to evolve and expand their horizon. But its just been 6 months since Elite D was released and we don't have a clue what will happened next in this game.
After all we raised funds for this game and it would be nice to se some sort of time line for this game, rather than to hear about some new game that's planned in a news letter, that is for ED.

In the future there is only war. It is however good for us if that other game makes money. In a roundabout way. So let us cheer for the success of that game. Not that I remember the name, if any. There is only room for one obsession at a time, or else there will be a fight for supremacy. Much easier to stay on the track.

But question is still valid. Did we raise funds for ED or for Frontier to develop other games. And what will this game hold in the future,,,
Since we don't have a roadmap for this game, more than 1-2 months ahead iam curious what the future brings. If they can plan for another title they can revel what they plan for this game.

Einstein said about wars. I don't know what weapon they will use in ww3 but in ww4 they will use clubs and sticks :)

We must remember that this game is Braben's Baby. So it will grow up, in all probability. We did not fund everything at any rate, and there are forces at work here that dictates diversity, hopefully not at our full expense. I would very much not like to wait 5 year for something exciting to happen after Power Play, for we are not getting any younger! :)

Iam trying to put out a bait for the devs to revel a roadmap for this game. Iam sure they have plenty of things planned for this game :D

In that case, this dastardly plot to water out our fair investment will not stand!

I've always said that very last expansion surely must be underwater based, thus my hunger for baits...

Frontier is a large company, with mutliple teams. They were working on mutliple other games alongside Elite: Dangerous (Zoo Tycoon and Screamride to name but two) and will continue to do so while they also bring the new features and expansions that they've announced to Elite.

Its not a large company. In fact they are a small company. Every company when they have a large order they employ more to fulfil their contract, and when its done they sack people. its just how it works. sadly. Ive been following frontier as a company since 2006. Iam one of the earliest that joined their forums when they put it up. We where about 70 people for many years. Even if they launched their dogs life, roller coaster games etc. The explosion came with ED. Even David used to talk on the forums back in that days like anyone els. At that time they where very open minded, talked about visions, etc, Today its like a closed door,,, since the game went live they refuse to talk about the future, its just the upcoming patch, 1 months ahead, and so on,, nothing els,,
No road map where we are heading or what they plan for the future.

FD has learned their lesson 're: roadmaps.

Anytime they mention anything with a date or even timeframe, it's taken as Gospel and out of context at the same time.

I've never seen a board more prone to losing their collective minds than this one. Frontier is now (rightfully) a bit gunshy when it comes to specifics.
