I agree that ED can feel lonely at times but I don't like the idea of global channels with random people - it never leads to quality human interaction and only spam and annoyance.

If you want someone to play with go look at player groups (there's a forum section dedicated to finding any) - some of those are purely social to hang out and get some ED related exchange going. Else we get to wait until Squadrons become a thing. I'm personally really excited for that feature and it can't come soon enough.
