The game makes my ps4 crash.

For a few days now my PS4 keeps crashing (shutting down when I launch elite Dangerous)
other games do work.
When I tried to re-install ED it only wants to install the Beta version(the one we had to test the carriers)
So after deleting the Beta I can install Elite Dangerous.
After a few days, we are back where we started.
PS4 crashes when launching Elite.
Does anyone else who had this issue?
I made a report of it using the issue tracker.

Seen this before
This used to work before horizons was dumped for EDO compatibility updates versions were released on console and Amazon hosting got a lot worse for the game... Not seen this issue directly since EDO release...

Remove/disconnect the internet before launching Game... once you are told you need internet to play keep pushing buttons untill you have been repeatability told you need internet...
Reconnect the internet to the console with out shutting down the game... push more buttons...
Now by default the game should now see the internet and then continue as a normal boot. no crashing as its not dialing home now ...
but some times it needs the game shut down and restarted to see internet is reconnected...
For what ever reason a third party networking link is smegging over the link it dails home on at game launch and it locks up the game boot trying to dial home then blue screens...
No internet at boot normaly kills the dial home script to amazon/look for updates.. . which then wont run the next time as it has a failed flag in script now...

You may have done all the reinstalling for nothing... as it would just have come back any way...

2nd Known fix is Pizza and Beer... and is normaly quicker than complex testing and fault finding..
PIck up the console and go to friend's house and play there on there internet,with zero issues, the Pizza and beer is so your not a full leach but its going to be faster then trying to do fault fixing when its corrupt data on the connection to AWS that crashing the game and out your hands when it dialing home..

This is excluding simple things like flushing the routers system thats got stuck in a fixed state and has ports traffic for Elite dangerous but ports stuck open for other titles braking data flow crashing the game... Turn the router off and then back on...

But the weird thing is, I have no bluescreens. The PS4 shuts down like someone pulled the power plug. It goes dead instantly. Or are you talking about the same thing? What I do notice is, that never it keeps my settings. Always i need to switch from HOTAS to My HOTAS settings.

If you're losing your settings, it MIGHT be caused by a corrupted file, though that normally only makes a game crash with a blue screen, not the system itself....

In particular I had a corrupted save file for the 2014 Tomb Raider reboot that crashed the game every time I tried to load it and I'd to restart the game...

It sounds more like a hardware problem, maybe with your PS4 or a hard drive, in particular maybe an external hard drive.

Try to rebuild your PS4's database, dust it and/or to install Elite on a different drive if possible, outwise reinstalling it MIGHT help - does it happen with any other game? :O

no its not the same thing Power down is not a crash its a power down..
Crashes would take you to the home screen of the PS4...
Black screen with no display and no reaction to the PS button on the controller is more like a OS locked up panicked and shut down...
Even if game crashes the BSD OS should still run and you have the Home screen of PS4 display.

IF your using a hotas, disconnect it and try running on just DS4 for a while...Or do you have Ace combat 7 or another hotas title as I wonder if the power supply is tripping when Hotas is used for multi days on USB power and then the HDD save files are wiped on reboot as the power cycle are not good for HDD storage and can cause a rebuild of file structure which is were the files get erased on that rebuild...

If you can don't play elite with hotas for a while... try other hotas titles if you have them..
buy default the hotas will not be fullly active untill you press the PS button (and then the game loads in the config files to memory) so when playing other title that dont support hotas it won't drain the same power... After the unit is of and colder again reboot with out hotas connected...
Do you have a steering wheel or USB radio frequency optical wireless headset (not Bluetooth) they drain a lot of power from USB so might duplicate the issue if it is USB tripping out the internal power supply as you have the hotas as extra to those it could just add up and trip the built-in power supply at a high power drain spike... (The spike will happen when the games loads in the Support for the USB devices to run the menus...)
If the console does not Auto Power off With no hotas use and only using DS4 that will confirm hardware issue...
If the console auto powers of with Ace combat 7 or with other titles that use USB extras it will confirm hardware issue...
If you can't play ED with a DS4 because it still auto powers off... Then don't know...

Thank you all for the advice, will try all the steps you've mentioned. To answer a few questions, all the other games do work, it's only with Elite Dangerous. What is also weird is that while I was online and the game kept crashing I switched to an alt and a friend logged in to my main account at his place, and the game worked, so I went in main again, and yes game worked again. Right now after an entire re-install of the PS4 firmware and all my games, the beta version of Elite Dangerous is not there anymore. So that's already a big change.

Is Elite the only Hotas title you own and if it is Namco will be very up set... as will be EA and all that money they spent on starwars squadrons ...
