The good, the bad and the ugly. From my sleepy few hours (PC Comparisons to my Pro)

Quick rough comparison between my aging Core i5-2500 and GTX570 PC and my PS4 Pro after a quick few hours in space in Open.

The good, its Elite and it looks the business. The performance graphically is A1 (apart from screen tearing) it's fluid, it looks great and with lots of ships on screen the Pro doesn't skip a beat. It's great on the big TV too. Need to set my TV up better I think but it looks so good. Mission boards are quick, station menus quick, outfitting quick, galaxy / system map speedy.

The bad, supercruise transitions yikes.Worst thing by far and much slower than my PC. Worst when going from Supercruise dropping to Stations (not tried planets) It's slow, it's not painfully slow but its way, way slower than PC in Open. (I am hoping it's because it's busy but I was in a pretty quiet system and it was still lag-oh-rama). Sometimes going to left and right panels seems slowed too compared to PC.

The ugly, screen tear really bad with headlock especially.

Early days yet but looking good, no crashes for me so far.

Still waiting on the day one download for regular ps4. Is the tearing appearing in both performance and quality modes graphics modes, or just quality?

Both, it's worse in headlock in station. In a Res when 15 ships on screen and it looks amazing with it all kicking off, it's amazing graphically and tearing is much less noticeable without headlock. The supercruise transitions worry me more than tearing to be honest.

Get used to the instance loading, its the same as on Xbox, i think its network related.

XboxLive and PSN aren't as fast as just "internet" on PC.. i think it got something to do with that. But, the good news, its MUCH faster as pre 2.3.

Correct me if im wrong Lloyd, Gary.. :D

Yeah, I am hoping it's server stress too really. I can dream..... But both PC and PS4 are Gigabit LAN hardwired.

Did I mention it looks amazing? Great job there Lloyd and team.

I haven't noticed anything that rips me much - kept I found out how I can crash my game - done it 3 times so far...I'll have to report it for sure. Drop out of super cruise then immediately jump back in...crash.

other than that and I can't fly a barn door or shoot anything...cool. happy days. Still advent passed advance combat training and I been dead now 8 times trying it.

Ok, then it will almost certainly be the game dipping under 60fps.

Well the good news for me from last night playing (on base ps4, in open) is that it seems to run smoother (to me anyway, and only very slightly) than xbox, and (it may just be me again, or not setting up my TV right for all inputs), but looks a little sharper?

The tearing is bad in headlook, haven't really noticed it yet outside of that though.
But, we had couple of times on xbox where tearing came in after a patch or two in gpp and it was soon fixed, so hoping the same will apply to ps4. May be able to compare properly with xbox then.

I need a good Pro deal to make the jump though, as not seen much 4k video yet to convince me it's worth it (elite will be the game in use most of the time until red dead so it's got to be good)

I felt it was a little sharper in the station and outside looking although it felt rough frame rate wise compared to xbox.

Early days tho and I'm hopefull we'll get performance boosts gradually as the devs get to grips with the playstation as they did with the xbox :)

Console doesn't and will never be able to compete with PC, so you can not compare your PC experience with PS4.

But consoles do play much better than cheap PCs, one of the reasons why consoles are so- expensive - sorry I meant popular.

The price vs performance is just much better.

For instance, you can't buy a $250 pc that can compete with the PS4 Slim when it comes to gaming.

That said, High End PCs are always better than consoles and they can easily cost over $2K but also serve a much smaller and less mainstream market.

My PS4 Pro experience is better than my PC one in all aspects except screen tear and SC transitions.

Supercruise transitions always felt bad on xbox and the pro seems quicker tbh, u do get used to it but coming from pc it will Deffo feel annoying for the first few days!

Don't touch the pc version now m8! :)

I'm flying pro and no big issues.

The 'they aren't loading screens' loading / transition screens (planetary, hyperspace etc.) do seem to take a while in some cases but then I'm on the exact other side of the planet for the UK - so hey i don't mind that.

Did notice that the comms panel, when in a station, can be a bit jittery which is slightly annoying but otherwise i can't say i noticed any big differences from watching youtube PC flying in HD and my experience on PS4 Pro.

I am running PS4 Pro in ‘quality’ setting and it looks great – no graphical glitches (screen tearing) or slow loading – seems to be running really well for me and looking good.
