The Great Colonia Volcanism Hunt

The Great Colonia Volcanism Hunt [Contest]

The Exploration Wing is happy to announce a contest for the citizens of Colonia. With materials in great demand, volcanic locations have become sought-after features, and with pilots able to target a specific location on a planet’s surface, the acquisition of even the rarest planet-bound materials has become a much easier task.

The contest will start on 6/2/2017 at 0900 gmt and end on 10/2/2017 at 0900 gmt.

The contest rules are as follows:

Volcanism Locations will be judged on three factors

  • Materials available, locations with very rare materials such as Polonium or Ruthenium will be scored higher than those without
  • Distance from Colonia
  • Appearance; beauty, after all, counts too
  • The volcanism location must be discovered after the start of the contest. Any locations found to be falsely submitted will be immediately removed from consideration.
  • Any Submission must be within 500 light years of Colonia
  • Submissions must come with these pieces of information:
    • Screenshot showing the planetary location and the materials list for that planet or moon
    • On-site screenshot showing clearly the entire UI as well as “farmed” Needle Crystals targeted to prove that the rare materials are present
    • Beauty screenshot

Winners will receive these fabulous rewards according to first, second, or third place.
1st place: A ship kit of their choice
2nd place: A ship skin pack or bobblehead
3rd place:A single ship skin or choice of two weapon colors.
All entries will be recorded for use by the CCN to assist in material gathering, regardless of final placing in the contest.

Simply reply to this thread to enter.

Good hunting Cmdrs.

My first trip to Colonia arriving yesterday. My first ever Geyser find, just 113Ly from Colonia.
The crystalline fragments have spawned Ruthenium and Selenium and there are lots of geysers in a steep, long canyon.

System: Eol Prou LW-L c8-227
Body: 1
Type: High Metal Content
Volcanism Type: Major Rocky Magma Volcanism
Coordinates:-64.4548, -120.0343
Distance from Colonia: 29.28 LY

This magma site is one of two sites on the same planet which are so close, they can be seen from one another!

I discovered this one, after CMDR Jonuss discovered the first one nearby (Jonuss' site is a fumarole site)

This is another site I discovered in the same system as the last one posted here, this time on the icy moon of 15 F A which I have named "Iceman". (It also contains my namesake POI, "Mount Glider"... but more on that another time, perhaps!)

The many variations of the geysers... that brilliant blue one may have been a glitch from being too close. Haven't seen it except one time!

Great pictures Commander.:)
You probably noticed as I have, that when a geyser is on a hillside it frequently erupts perpendicular to the ground at that point and not vertically from a horizontal plane - a flaw in FD's physics
