The Great Diaspora (Beyond beyond and Fleet Carrier musings/speculation)

Straight off the bat I'll say this is pure speculation as we know nothing about how fleet carriers will work at this stage.

So, here's the thought. Assuming we can move Fleet Carriers long distance (over time) and they are capable of supporting us with rearming, etc. Perhaps then one thing FD are thinking we might do is with the Thargoids sweeping in, and perhaps other threats out there to the bubble (Guardians and their AI), then maybe groups might want to get away from the bubble, and not just to Colonia.

With the bubble collapsing under Thargoid attack, perhaps the idea is humanity will scatter all across the galaxy, with hundreds or thousands of mini bubbles all over the place.

Maybe this is a bit too dynamic for FD's tastes, and it won't happen, or maybe the mechnaics simply won't support it, but i think this might be quite cool.

I'd like to see a Diaspora, there is enough data from the explorers to provide many areas out there superior to the bubble in just about every way. In fact...thinking along those lines, it's strange why we cling to the bubble now.
I've a medium term plan to get a Conda and move to Colonia anyway, if a diaspora does happen, Colonia would be a better place to operate from in support of said diaspora.

AA, I like your train of thought and it melds with something I have been thinking about. My personal view (and yes I have nothing to back this up, just a hunch so to speak) is that FD underestimated the players when the game was released. I think they thought the majority of players would head out of the bubble as soon as they had a ship that could jump further that 10lys. But it seems a lot stayed put and it has upset what FD had planned down the track.

Maybe with what you proposed humanity (well the players) will expand outward and create a lot of smaller bubbles of activity throughout the universe. The major problem I see is FD ensuring that these new mini-bubbles get the infrastructure they need to be able to sustain a player population.

While it would be cool, we're lacking a ton of Gameplay Options and a Sandbox to make any of it happen.

Technically one could stay mobile with a Carrier, but there's no way to Colonize Systems. Can't build nor construct anything, neither in Orbit nor on Planets.
So scattering around the Galaxy would merely make us "deluxe space hobos" while being virtually stuck in the middle of nowhere and having zero meaningful Options i.e. to start off fresh in these locations.

The biggest Metal-Rich Planet is useless if you can't conduct Mining on it to gather construction Resources and use them to build something.
The warmest Earth-Like World is useless if you can't settle there or create an Agricultural Resource.
The sweetest Terraforming Candidate is useless if you can't actually Terraform it.
All of them are doomed to be useless Gravity Wells if you can't construct a Nucleus in Orbit or on the Surface and develop it.

Thus, for as long as we're stuck with Frontier-placed fixed Settlements to operate from, it would leave us with plenty of nothing to do.
Just roam around endlessly until our Carriers fall apart, run out of fuel or their owners self-destructing out of desperation.
(we'd almost be something like "The Missing 2.0". Fleets of Ships aimlessly searching for a new home, with no chance of actually building one, no matter where we'd arrive)

Maybe, just maybe, season 4 will include something to help with colonization.

I don't think I'll still be around by then, but I haven't seen them giving up the "only one CMDR in a lonely Space Ship" Design Paradigm so far. At least I'm not aware of any such signs.
Would be cool though and move the title forward alot if done right.

Let's face grim reality here.

Squadrons will likely be sort of private groups, where you can set up and then add CMDRs from your friendlist. Purchasing a carrier will probably work like current wing missions and will require a team effort (if you have to deliver construction materials, like in X-series) or a large sum of money (we're probably talking some billions here. Possibly doable alone).

Then the Squadron owner can choose a location on galmap and transfer the carrier here. It would be seen as signal source, and only to squadron members (think detention ships and how they exclude other CMDRs from instance to prevent ganking).

No colonizing, no settlements, no funny stuff. Just a mobile service base. That's it.
