'The Great Galactic Diameter Run - September 11 3306

Though it's not the pair of most distant stars in the galaxy by far, Semotus in the North and Amundsen's Star in the South, 84+k Ly away, mark a pretty long diameter and longest from North to South or vice-versa. After two weeks of planning and a few days of flying, I'll be trying a speed run from Amundsen's to Semotus on Friday, September 11 3306, with a tentative start at 11:30 UGT. I will be streaming (not that I expect a large audience...) at twitch.tv/jjgoldberg. Estimated duration of the run: 11-12 hours.

10h35m42s. According to EDSM, 539 jumps. Started on time, but being one of my first streams I forgot to click the live button, and noticed only about one hour later. Also my GalMap did not have the option to use Neutron Boost on, and it cost me one jump before I noticed it. Then, with all the planning, I had assumed that a certain patch of the way would be fine, and I ended up on a dead end, which cost me about 15 extra minutes to go around the block. After that it was more or less plain sailing (but towards the end it was getting really hard to focus). Anyway, one item from the bucket list crossed out. Maybe this will be the start of a classic endurance challenge...
Oh, btw, if you are thinking about credits, do not do this. Honking the whole distance was worth... 9 million.
But the view from Semotus never gets old...
