The Great West Nebula Expedition (PICTURE HEAVY)

Went exploring with a friend of mine. Myself (CMDR Zephyrrial) in a Hauler and my friend in his trusty T6 (CMDR Gumby). Its too bad we didn't have a Sidewinder to take background worthy photos.

Our first stop. This nebula didn't have a name, (Edit: The name of the nebula is LBN 623) but it was like a big whirling wormhole of purple. Was my favourite of them all.

Here we reached the Veil Nebula West. Took some fantastic photos.

A few Contact Binaries I stumbled upon in my travels.

A really cool Brown Dwarf with an enormous ring system, around 2Ls in radius I believe.

Found this in the same system as the brown dwarf above. Got a neat eclipse photo with it. Looks like the B class star has the rings around it!

Almost home!

Back home and the turn in.

Ended with boosting my Exploration rank up from Mostly Aimless to Surveyor. Made over 450k on the trip from the data.

And there's my beauty. I should think of a name....

Dude... those the most amazing shots ever to be ruined by a cracked windshield ;)

Haha, yeah. Blame the random NPCs way out in the middle of nowhere. All out with a thirst for interdictions. I even saw miners at the asteroid field near the Veil Nebula. Something is buggy with the NPC generation right now.

Great trip!

How long (game time) did it take?
How many LY did you travel?

It took us about 6-8 Hours of total play. We travelled around 3000Ly or so Round Trip. I'm pretty sure the odometer would read more though, because thats just 3000Ly in a straight line.

Great stuff :)

We really, really need a camera module for utility slots or something so we can take pics without without the dashboard and canopy cheesing it up.

Really cool pictures! Can't wait to try exploring as well.

Before you set out did you already have a detailed surface scanner and intermediate surface scanner or did you just have your basic discovery scanner?

Great shots!

Hoping to post some of my expedition to Orion, I also suffered a cracked cockpit, that said it was totally my own fault, scooping fuel from giant and super giants is a little more dangerous than you might expect ;). Shouldnt come too much as a supprise given that some of those beasts have atmospheric layers that are many 10Ls deep and flying at 0.1c will take a lot of time to get out of it.

I also made a few mistakes flying to close to objects at high speed, namely a neutron star and a black hole which i miss judged and wrenched myself out of supercruise at an uncomfortably high speed.

Yeah, I always try to take care when inspecting black holes. Their "Mass-Lock" zone is so hard to figure out due to the way they play with the light. I have yet to see a Neutron Star. My exploration buddy found one in one of the systems we visited, but couldn't find the black hole there. I did the opposite and found the black hole but not the neutron star.

Very nice shots indeed sir. I have just gotten back from the Pleiades Cluster recently, and written my story, but my screenshots didn't look quite as clear as yours. The eclipse photo is especially good. Have some rep sir.

Sigh, I did the veil nebula west trip a few days ago as well but my exploration data is crashing the game when going into the universal cartographic menu... Hope I don't lose it since it was a 2,400ly trip

ive yet to figure out is it better to sell ur data information at the a station in the system u scan or if its better tradeing it like normal trade gds and selling it a few systems away i havent personally seen a diffrence in the price but just wondering if anyone else has
