Purely from an ED perspective, I find this news somewhat reassuring.

I had private reservations about the ED budget, while under no illusion that the sum of the KS was the sole budget for the game, I have a fair idea of the kind of money that a AAA title costs to develop. While ED is still not in the league of games like CoD, funding-wise, this move validates the assumption that a healthy sum is being invested above and beyond the KS.

I do see ED as being FD's flagship (software) product, and the optimist in me hopes it'll do for FD what WoW did for Blizzard.

The company's financials make very good reading with Frontier having NO debt, £7 million in the company reserves and £3 million of approved overdraft with Barclays.

Given the state of the economy that is a great shape to be in.

I have already seen on other forums how some people have taken the fact that the company is in a healthy state in an odd way.

It seems that some people don't understand how companies are ran and how their books are managed.

Looking at this data I am more confident that ED will be finished as the company has the means to survive for quite a while.

I haven't seen anyone getting emotional about it but very busy at the moment and only dipping in and out.

It all looks good news and seems like FD are doing things the right way. To be in this state, in this economic environment is all impressive.

If I lived near Cambridge or if they would let me work from home I would apply for job there.

ED will certainly be the flagship title for Frontier but probably even more than that. It will also be a means to show what the Cobra engine. I have to say I'm not that interested in going into great details about share issues etc. From a selfish point of view I think it's great that there will be more funds for the game. Taking a longer term view I think it's great to see a British company doing really well and looking to be in a great position for the future. I really can't see anything worth getting the torches and pitchforks out for.

ED will/must be the showcase what COBRA is capable to do.

We already have JULY! So the schedule is really very tight! Every $ will be needed to get as many stuff as possible to work on ED exclusively....

I think the pressure on FD and DB is very high, ED has to be GREAT.

So every investment is needed to get this right.
