The Guardian Shield Booster reboot/repair bug.

The well known bug of shieds not recharging to 50% after a reboot/repair when a GSB is equipped has been in the game for several months now, yet FD hasn't done anything about it.

I believe the reason they haven't done anything is because it's working as intended, due to a second hidden effect the GSBs have.

Normally a shield will come back online once 50% of the shield has recharged, however if your shield has begun the recharge cycle, entering or exiting supercruise, with a GSB equipped, will immediately bring your shields back online with half of the percentage the recharge stage had finished.

I.e. A shield is 6%/10%/50% recharged, entering/exiting supercruise will bring the shield online with 3%/5%/25% of its total capacity respectively, when a GSB is equipped.

It happens without the GSB too. Next time a shield is halfway rebuilt (little ticker thing still adding blocks), enter super cruise and see what happens. The shield comes online with whatever rebuild progress it was at. 30% rebuilt? You get .3 x 50% shields. 75 % rebuilt? You get .75 x.5. I think it's a bug and happens to me constantly, without a GSB. Prior to this bug, shields just continued rebuilding in SC and booted up at 50% strength like normal.

Yeah, same bug. I originally thought it was a GSB specific change to compensate for the inability to rebuild shields with a reboot/repair. Turns out it's either an unlisted change or a useful bug for shields in general.

I'm kind of okay with the idea of Guardian modules not powering-down so you can reboot/repair.
It gives them a drawback as well as the benefits of being an uprated & engineer-free module.

If you're prepared to faff around, you can get Guardian modules to power-off so you can reboot by setting them to priority 2 (or lower) and then bringing enough other stuff on-line so the Guardian modules shut down... which pretty-much crushes the idea that it was ever intended to be a deliberate drawback.
