Hi,
Thought I'd share my little adventure.
Nanomann was quite tasty tonight and so I found myself running a few errands for Hudson. Decided to take my Cobra, it's quite heavily loaded in case I run into small trouble and usually fast enough to get me away from big trouble.
On my second trip into Nanomann there was Cmdrs everywhere and not feds . . . quite a few from Archon's neck of the woods.
I'd been interdicted a few times and so was expecting more of the same and happily found myself being interdicted again by another Cmdr. The last guy had a python and was easily out run but on this interdiction I felt a small knot in my stomach when I realised it was an Imperial Clipper . . . there quite fast.
I was in no mood for ditching my cargo or simply being taken out for the sake of someone's power play points so I plotted my escape vector and started boosting, waiting for the FSD to cool down, I watched carefully my target range . . . 2.5 Km. Damn!! more boosting and the Imp Clipper is keeping up with me. Laser fire is starting to come in and the shields are starting to weaken. Start to charge the FSD but I have inhibitive factor of 17, it's charging slowly and the shields are still dropping, Archon's minion is still in range.
The FSD is half way charged and I'm down to my last shield ring. I thought I'd try something I saw in a movie once.
Flight assist off, boost, pitch with thrust and in a near instant I'm facing my attacker. I boost again heading for a point just behind my attackers engines. I can sense his/her confusion " is he doing? is this guy gonna ram me?"
In my head I can hear the AI warning me of the odds of surviving a head on assault against an Imperial Star Destroyer (poetic license).
As I shoot past the ship I watch the holo of the Imperial Clipper as it painfully tries to slow down and turn to maintain the chase. I boost again and chuckle to myself as I see FSD drive charge suddenly accelerate as I break free of the inhibition field.
Whoomp . . . I'm away. I reckon that's the closest you can get to pulling off the Han Solo manoeuvre in Elite Dangerous.
So, I know PP isn't every ones cup of tea - but it is making for some exciting times. Fly safe Cmdrs.
