this is not technically scifi but still ...
(if you still haven't watched this series, beware spoilers, and watch it. it's good).
just watched "first blood", 6th episode of the second season, and was amazed. this has been so far the best episode in a pretty interesting series, by far. nothing really shocking happens (except the obligatory standard last seconds hook), it's mostly dialogue but, ... what dialogue!
the whole episode is about the characters intimate dealing with their double lives, managing their respective deep, heartbreaking lies. it is a recurrent theme in the show but this was a real fiesta. i know, it's not shakespeare, but really hits and surpasses the ceiling of what industrialized media entertainment can achieve. apart from a few weak moments (like the last encounter of mr butthole waterford with june, and maybe serena's tantrum after her brief excursion into humanity) the script is so well put, the acting is so superb in all aspects that it really makes shuch a 'groundwork' episode shine. for the first time i'm really tempted to give the book a shot (it's been a while since i'm reluctant to read fiction).
