The heat meta thing.

I've heard that Fdev have adjusted this twice.

Well, it doesn't seem to have done much.

Scenario - I'm in a python with reinforced psg and two resist augmented boosters, heavy duty military armour with 4 varying heavy duty hr, all highest grade.

Also using a thermal vent beam.

Attacked by an FDL. Two volleys of pack hound, probably thermal cascade, and combat is over.

Personally this just encourages me to want to combat log whenever i come across someone using these boring, combat destroying weapons.

It's pretty horrible just now.
Never liked how heat works here, just another overcooked game mechanism.

Yes, it was adjusted from almost 0 at inception (1.3 powerplay?) to very low. Then it was adjusted to insane as it is currently in the 2.1 update. It's under review again for the coming updates such as 2.2.

And no you probably shouldn't advertise combat logging. Even if it wasn't against the rules it generally turns a thread into a mudslinging contest by page 4.

It will be adjusted again, when we get the FPS aka Spacelegs(TM) you can't have ship exploding left and right, they will be hit hard and immobilized,
but should not explode that easy. Why? because why have boarding mechanics if the ships just explode?

Actually it will make the game more fun, because that will give you time to,

A) drop some cargo
b) get to an Esc pod

If you select A, you can then repair your ship and save the insurance, if you select B, you will need to pay the insurance.

In both situations you won't have instant you're dead screens in your face. Only if you get killed in FPS combat you will actually die.

Much better gameplay if you ask me, however need the FPS to do that.

Currently PvP due heat cancer meta is so broken, that I recommend to avoid Open or play it at own risk and be ready to die...
probably FD will fix this in 2.2..
