The heck happened? Did I kill the NPC Pilot ?

Topic name says it all... what happened!? after a full frontal assault and a couple of hits on apparently its canopy it was dead in space. Ready to be killed over 400cr bounty. :)

Certain modules can disable or even blow up the ship before it reaches zero hull. You can hit them by chance or by using the susbsystem targeting, though you need to be at the right angle to have a firing solution. So far I haven't managed to blow up ships before 0% hull, but I haven't tried really hard, I should do that on Anacondas and Pythons.

That said, I've had a bug many times back in beta where an enemy ship just stays still (even with his shields still up) and just waits to be shot at, usually happens with small ships like Eagles if I'm not mistaken. I haven't had this since release though.

I was slightly expecting to see a full frontal ram. Since it seems to be a useful combat maneuver in space.

Whenever possible I try to avoid full frontal ramming. I think it's a bad tactic that nobody should use. It might be good but without honour! Use guns!

Its prettier and makes lovely sounds!

I've seen this happen once in my Viper against an NPC Sidewinder. I suspect that either the pilot was killed or thrusters were disabled.
