The "Holes In The Game" Thread

And I don't mean Black Holes.

This thread is to highlight Holes In The Game which haven't been brought to FDEV's attention yet and which certain individuals exploit.

Hole #1

Say we have 3 players. Two of them are winged up and are out to "have a bit of fun" with the other.

Let's call those two Bill and Ted. The third we'll call Bob. Because.

Bill & Ted are having a great time blowing up players in and around a Coriolis station, during which along comes Bob who has been assigned a landing pad there and is through the letterbox and has almost reached his assigned pad.

Just as Bob reaches his pad, Ted has slipped his ship between the pad and Bob.

Meanwhile, Bill starts repeatedly ramming Bob's ship. Eventually Bob's ship blows up.

Hole #2

Bill & Ted are still around said Coriolis station and are having a good laugh causing many player's ships to be blown up in and around it.

Eventually, the station and station security have had enough of these shenanigans and have started Firing Everything at Bill & Ted's ships.

Bill and Ted just laugh. They know all they need to do is to supercruise away from the station and straightaway head back to it, which they do.

The moment they arrive back, they find that the station and station security - who moments before were unleashing Hell on them - have developed amnesia and don't know Bill & Ted from anyone else. Bill & Ted continue on their rampage until the next time they need station & security to develop amnesia.


Scenario 1 above seems especially heinous, as there is nothing Bob can do about the situation as he can't exactly run away from it. The only real option left for Bob is to log out - something some people might call "combat logging".

Scenario 2 is simply daft. Station and Station Security should not immediately forget the fact that not 5 seconds ago they were blasting away at the two criminal scum Bill & Ted.

Discuss - oh and if you have more examples of similar holes in the game, it might be good to alert FDEV of them by mentioning them in this thread.

Bob has a bit of a bad day and destroys all of the system security and every ship in it. He has a large bounty. He goes on holiday for a week to drink Jacques station out of stock. He returns to the said system and everything is fine and Dandy. He has something called a Legacy fine, which raises a huge laugh in the bar. Has anyone ever paid a legacy fine???

Example 1 is quite funny, I didn't know you could do that, so now that I know I can't wait to give it a try, example 2 is where you agree with you totally.

Its petulant behavior designed to disrupt others games but its clearly something that FD don't care about otherwise they would fix it.

Either they don't care, or it's a throwback from getting the game out December 2014 so their code is "simplistic" and hasn't been looked at since? Who knows. Perhaps FDEV would care to comment.

But the funny thing is, the tactic used to be get a large ship and ram small ships at the station. Then FD added the speed limit and murder wrap to counter the actions, the griefers laughed and jumped in their eagles and rammed speeding large ships.

Yeah I don't want this thread to be about the merits of that particular mechanic as that's discussed in other threads. I want it to be about Holes In The Game which haven't been brought to FDEV's attention yet and which certain individuals exploit.

In the first example, wouldn't the station open up on Ted because he's loitering? I think the clock on that was 20 seconds or so. Has it been changed?
 
Hole #3 = A proper crime and punishment system and enriches and creates gameplay opportunities for people on BOTH sides of the law AND makes Anarchy systems and security rating MEAN something

Hole #2 = The horrible of a game mechanic called powerplay that could have been incredible awesome but in the end ALL factions act the same like murderous religious fanatics that wants all the other factions DEAD, DEAD, DEAD.

Hole #3 = Multi-Role ships are better trade ships than actual trade ships.
 
Issue 1 - Bob logs out of open and logs into solo and lands,all other Bobs do the same thing and Bill and Ted get bored and go somewhere else

Issue 2 - FDev buff Starport weapons, so a maxed out Corvette with shield mod lvl 5 and shield boosters lasts about 7.5 seconds, no more Bill and Ted

Issue 3 - NPC Bounty Hunters have KWS equipped and pop up occasionally to remind players about legacy fines?
