If you hate any positivity toward Elite Dangerous.. PLEASE stop right here and move on (I don't want to waste your time with my 'philosophizing'... to use a Monty Python euphemism)
I'm not really a white knight, In the past I've made some outrageously negative posts when something has wound me up!...but
I've recently retired from a long career in the hectic world of medicine and NOW have a reasonably comfortable life (which wifey and I have worked hard for)...so after a day of doing my chores, I was sat at my P.C. as it fired up EDH .... I suddenly felt a warm fuzzy feeling... no I'd not had a personal accident!
It was a feeling of anticipation mixed with a relaxing calm (oh so different from my recent professional life): I analysed this feeling and realised that at differing times I come to Elite Dangerous seeking several different things from it. One of the main gains for me is the complete relaxation of immersing myself in just flying space ships through the many varied and often beautiful vista's provided by the game. This is not to say there are no improvements to be made or faults addressed; just as in RL. (well it is RL for the Dev's)
To sum it up (just for me, and I hope for a few others at least): This pastime provided by David Braben's vision and hard work from his Team; has provided the absolute icing to my retirement 'cake', and I thank them for it and wish them and all fellow commanders well for the future, and look forward to the 2020 update and whatever will come in between!
