The Imperial Corsair, hear me out...

Look, I know this has been beaten to death, bought back, and beaten again for good measure. But I NEED an Imperial medium sized ship. I envision the normal Gutamaya flair. I would sketch it, but I'm certainly not an artist. I envision a smaller cutter, but with the circular-ish "spoiler" from the ship kit. The ships 4 nacelles would be connected to the main fuelsalage with long swooping wings that start about 3/4 up the fuelsalage in a swept back design, keeping the nacelle pairs decently close, but with enough distance to really give it an edge in maneuverability. The flagship speed would come from a singular large drive centered at the rear of the fuelsalage. The hard points are placed in a Halo design, 2 med behind the cockpit placed close together, 2 more mediums slightly foward of the cockpit one on each side(port and starboard) and one large under the nose. This ship should be decently quick, just over the FDL in top speed about 415 stock A rated and just as maneuverable.

The Imperial Corsair. Gutamaya's response to increasing tensions with the Federation and the rising Thargoid threat. Codenamed "Amenadeil" during the development stages, the Corsair is based on the new "Halo" architecture from Gutamaya. This combat focused ship features 4 stern nacelles connected to the fuselage with the usual swooping, elegant grace Gutamaya is renowned for. The nacelles take a feather from Lakon's wing, rotating in tandem or in opposition to aid in the ships rotational power, albeit sacrificing some of Gutamaya's flagship speed. Gutamaya is also proud to announce that this new ship is the smallest form factor in the current line up that will be capable of equipping the Class 5 Fighter Hanger, increasing battlefield presence for those dangerous VIP escorts and system defense situations. Earls may contact their local Gutamaya shipyard for ordering details.

I'd like an Imperial Python.
Someone already made a great design.
Just google for "elite dangerous imperial python".
The only thing that should be added are two of those typical Imperial thruster nacelles.

I think FD or somebody screwed up the naming of the ED iCourier, perhaps intentionally, if not. The Imperial Courier in FE2 and FFE was much larger than the scoutish ED iCourier and could carry a lot more cargo. It's more like the size of Amidala's courier ship in TPM than an X-Wing fighter. It also had retractable pylons and an overall unique aesthetic that's been mostly lost with the ED version. Perhaps back then before 2.0 it was intended to make the Feds differ with their ships more by having more medium ship options while the imperial type choices only skipped to large pad. I had hoped someday the iCourier would be renamed into something like iDart or iScout, with a proper ED Imperial Courier medium made, but of course probably will never happen.

From these pics of the Imperial Courier in Elite 2: Frontier, it's easy to see the size of this ship is closer to the ED AspX or Krait Mk II. And interesting to see it was relatively close in cost to the FE2 python..

"The Federation may have the
Cobra Mark III, but the Empire have come up with their own piece of wicked
hardware. Years of design, with designers and engineers working under threat of
execution if they don’t get it right this time, has produced the Imperial Courier
— once the front line of every imperial attack, now available to the general
public."

We definetely need a medium imperial ship, but with those optionals and utilities it can be flown only as a hull tank, which wouldn't fit to empire ship building philosophy, which is shield focussed.

So it would either need at least 2x C6 internals or 6 utility slots.

A different hard point loadout would also be nice... 6m (maybe even 7 to make up for the disadvantage vs. large ships) or 2l 3m or 2l 2m 2s would be more interesting.

I'll have two number 9s, a number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip, a number 7, two number 45s, one with cheese, and a large soda.

Pint of lager and a packet of Crisp will do me!!!

Back On Track, this is one excellent suggestion OP, where do i place my order for the Corsair!

Off Piste again (Sorry)....... I would not buy a Tesla as long as my bottom points downwards. Don't care for the owner, he is a womans wee wee thing!.

Neither would I... just mentioned it, because the 35k$ variant will probably not be released any time soon ;)

At what point do you consider it a shield tank? With what MJ? If you use the krait mkii as a proxy, you can easily obtain 2k with SCB

At what point do you consider it a shield tank?

Depends...
Variant 1 has most of its MJ in active shields, like the FdL and Mamba, which both have 6 utility mounts.
Variant 2 has a reasonable amount of MJ in active shields plus a considerable amount in SCBs. Examples are the Python or Krait Mk2, which can both carry 2xC6 SCBs.

A shield tank in the medium class would have to be able to compete with those.

Ships with just 4 utilities and no (or just one) C6 slots are usually flown as hull tanks or hybrids, because they have neither exceptionally strong shields, nor room for reasonably large SCBs.

Good examples are the Federal Assault Ship or the Alliance Chieftain.
