The Imperial Courier - fastest ship when 2.1 hits?!

I just hope they've improved the efficiency, the best bonus would be better speed and more agility on lower pips. That's more of a combat change than racing though so we'll see what they do.

Again, the rotational speed is limited by the flight computer. Bigger thrusters don't change much. Notice when you accelerate the ship to give it a spin, the thrusters fire only very briefly before the thrusters are cut off.
The physical limiting factor is hull and pilot stress from the centripetal forces introduced.

So if you want more agility, tweaking the flight computer + hull reinforcement would be the way to go - while the same thrusters can be retained.

BTW, I also miss ships which use CMGs (control moment gyroscopes) for reorientation, instead of the RCS thruster assembly. Would be great for stealth builds, as it would omit hot and gaseous thruster emissions.

after watching last weeks live stream, it was said that they had to dial back the new drives because the sidewinder became stupidly fast. considering you can already get a sidey to max speed on the current drives, an actual top speed buff for ships using the new drives might be on the cards

Good shout forgot about that, yeah I do hope we see a good buff to the speed! It'll be needed for the seeker missile buffs :)

uh! that IS interesting!

I hope it has a big effect on The Courier. Canyon runs would be that much more fun. It doesn't make sense to limit it to one brand of ship, either. Thrusters are thrusters. Why would increasing A3 thruster output affect one ship, but not the other?
