The Imperial Cutter - The Pilot

Well, I have 2 of them. Using them mostly for trading and mining, but i also did combat.

One is able to jump 51 LY empty and 37 LY with 752t of Cargo.
The other one is the Painite grinder.

Edit: The Cutter is not able to do 2 things:
Land on Outposts
And stop in less than 6-7km after boosting

"Because you can" is the reason I bought my second Cutter, tbh.

I lusted after this ship in CG after CG as they left my Type-9 in the dust every time, so for a good year I was smitten with the Cutter once I had it. But, now having the biggest hauler in the game, my love of hauling began to wither and I started focusing more on combat. After blowing several billion into making a formidable war boat (second cutter, BTW), I grew frustrated with it. While it had great shields, it wasn't putting down nearly enough damage. So, I mothballed the warbird while I bought and engineered my FedVette "Lingenfelter."

That retired warbird has now been repurposed to yep, you guessed it, a miner named "Minter." The other one, "Irregular Catering" remains my deluxe hauler for when I get the hauling urge now and then. Still a fantastic ship for some things, and almost as fun to fly as the Type-9.

Yep, very good Miner and also an exceedingly well-protected Trader. A Trader with teeth, too.

In short, IMHO the Cutter is one of the rare Ships that can go out and get the job done - even in very hazardous environments.
Still takes skill (Engineering, Build) and some experience to really move the monster around effectively, but once those skills are applied - it'll definitely get the job done.

Combat? Probably the best Support Ship you could wish for in your Wing.
Stand-alone? Not so much (Imperial DriftShip(tm), lack of agility and maneuverability)... but it doesn't have to, unless maybe it meets another Mass-lock Cutter.

I longed for the big ships for a long time. The first one I got was the Conda, and honestly that is still the most usable one of the biggies. Nowadays I have a Cutter, several Condas, a Corvette, and a T-10, all engineered. I use a Python for mining, an AspX for exploring, a Mamba for Sunday cruising in the Sun and a Vulture for cleaning up the dirt.

Right there with ya, man.

Well, except for the Asp. I like the Phantom a bit more.

I agree with all of the video but one tiny thing: i don't pick the Vette for combat duty, either. It's not more fun than my Krait. But i guess that's just me. :D

"You're going to buy it, because you can!"

Very true - it is a beautiful ship, can haul a massive amount...

I have one, doesn't everyone... But I don't actually like flying it :)

Another beautiful video, but this time you couldn't sell me on the ship, you're too late! Nanana!!!!

This. I tried it in beta a few times, never liked it. And since I already have a clipper, courier and iEagle without having any empire rank I still haven't bothered getting anywhere close. :p

I was going on an expedition recently, and considered the Conda due to it's jump range. Then the Phantom because it carries way less dead mass and has a much better cockpit in VR. I also considered the T-10, because that cockpit view is excellent. If only I had a ship with that cockpit view strapped to a much smaller hull... Then it struck me: The AspX ofcurz. I hadn't flown it since the days where I had to, because it was my only ship, and just like you, I kind of hated it when I left it in the garage. Now, with engineering it's a magnificent explorer, and it's becoming one of my favorite ships.

Btw. Your videos are great! Beautiful and well edited. If you're not already a professional, you're a natural talent (y)

The beluga is more beautiful, and bigger, and can actually turn. Maybe not as much shields but it makes up for it in hull.

The beluga can also move cargo, not as much as the cutter, but with the beluga you can expect to jump 20ly.

The beluga is also much much cheaper.

Also, core mining is much easier in the beluga because it turns very well, and you can keep a good ampunt of cargo if you want to laser mine too.
