Newcomer / Intro The Infamamous "Just one more trip" then I go to bed catastrophye...

It's well passed 0300, my eyes are bleary and my head's starting to ache. All I need to do is drop this shipment of Palladium off.

The first hint of trouble was my pad assignment, 16. it's a straight drop down from the mail slot. I've all ways have had trouble with pas close to the slot.

I got lined up fairly good I thought but I over shot the sweet spot. Being tired, I over corrected an hit something. That got my Cobra tangled in some cat walks and pinned on the wrong landing pad.

Just as I got my ship under control, Air Traffic Control decided to join in on the fun, they opened up and that was that.

Of course all my cash was in that load of Palladium, nearly 500Kcr. I managed to get my ship back and 1000cr so it's not a total loss.

(I had this all spaced out but for some reason it all gets smushed into an ugly block.)

We've all been there.
Me: All my credits sunk into 96 tons of Palladium and BANG - I hit boost instead of landing gear. Thats usually the sign that you've stayed up too long.

I was on my way smuggling into a station once, a little hot. 30 tonnes of gold in the hold. Was going to zero forward speed and hit reverse thrusters the moment I passed the force field. Instead, I hit forward thrusters and slammed right into the back of the station. I'd been playing for 8-10 hours and it was about 6 AM... I learned the definition of double or bust that night.

Where does the time go when you are playing this game? Before you know it it is way too late to be playing on a work night!

I find it very hard to get away when you just want to sell off the cargo, or just need to explorer the rest of the system you are in then land at a station....BOOM 3am!

THIS! I always figure - might as well go to so-and-so station from where I am now, 1 quick run.
and without fail it's 1.30/2

Ay, thank god I have a lot of experience handling that Feeling thanks to Civ. I still play way to much, but never to the degreee that I don't sleep/eat enough and all that other important stuff.

LOL!
I once tried to jettison 1T to try to make a jump - and had exactly the same thought process as you.
Luckily it was only 16T!!

Lately I crashed out three times. That's a record for me. Once I clearly was too tired to think but the other two. I can't put my finger on it but the ship did not handle right. Also I seem to be overshooting the station in SC now. It almost feels like the ships have gotten more sluggish and unruly. It's as if the flight model got more Newtonian or more like FA OFF. Anyone think that our am I just getting to the point of having to step away for a bit from the game?

+1 Rep for taking it like a man and not crying or rage quitting about it on the forums.

While I'm not over joyed about it, it's part of the game. It'd be rather boring scampering about the 'verse in bubble wrap or in God mode. I found a nice trade route. It's not all nude profitable but I can make a steady income from it, the USSs, and missions.

To address another concern, I do play long hours. It is pretty much a trait of anyone that plays a game like this. However, I don't lose any sleep over it nor do I go hungry. Thanks to my over active kidneys I'm up and moving every 45 min to an hour. I eat when I need go. I even remember to feed my two cats and two dogs most of the time.

Thanks for all of the kind, encouraging remarks. It makes it easier to keep going on when the community is supportive and this mature.

On the road to recovery

After about 3 hours back in the saddle, I've made about 65k. I some how have a small bounty on me so after dinner, I'll have to go clear that up. I also have my first green contacts.

I'd been trading up from an Asp to a T-7 by repeated milk runs... got the T-7 and thought a couple more runs before I upgrade as I had insurance cover but not much else...

Last night, it was late...I'd done the milk run 20 times in the evening already and forgot to request docking permission... (I think in auto mode I'd pressed contacts, selected lock instead of request docking and didn't realise)... found out you can't reverse T-7 out of the letterbox in the time allocated.. and I was "allied"... lost a T-7 and about 60000cr cargo... didn't do any more milk last night :)

At least you can recoup quickly - spent this evening between milk runs in the new T-7 and some hunting in the Nav beacon with a standard sidey... back up to 20mil

Damn, that had to suck. I have a hard enough time getting into stations with a Cobra. I can't imagine trying to panic reverse a ship as big as yours. In that last three hours I just played, I caught myself snoring a couple of times. Why do I get so sleepy when I play ED? I'm not bored. Maybe it causes me to concentrate so hard at the tasks at hand it causes my brain to become fatigued. I don't know.
