Newcomer / Intro The Infamamous "Just one more trip" then I go to bed catastrophye...

I used to play a lot of JumpGate and learned my lesson then... late night, long trip, it's a recipe for impaling your ship on something fatal. :p

Fortunately my common miskey inside stations is hitting J instead of F, and all that happens is the ship computer says "unable to comply"

Although I've fallen foul of those stupid landing spots just inside the station too. My common error on those is overshoot, drop down a bit so as to be out of line with the entrance and thus not get rammed by the next NPC to come along, then reverse too hard and hit one of those big supports at the end of the station.

It was late and i was beery i decided i had to split and i went full on rad dude mode. Released dock and hit full thrust intending to scream out of the dock slot but hit the edge and blew the heck up. LULZ

Well, I've been playing the game since launch and had my first docking "accident" last night. Maybe it was a full moon or something?

My own fault, being a bit too complacent and was travelling to the slot entrance a touch too fast. Cobra didn't slow down quickly enough. Drove right into the side of the station's external wall like Frank Spencer. Lost shields and bounced off with 4% hull integrity.

I hit the zero throttle key and held my breath, maybe I'll make this. I diverted all power to systems to get my shields up asap... If only I slammed reverse but I didn't - and the rotation of the station spun round and 'something' hit me and finished me off.

Lost all my expensive cargo and a ton of bounties unclaimed.

I'm glad it's happened now though and I've experienced it. But I'm being extra careful approaching docking slots now...

Kudos to those who fly around with 100T of rares in T6's with no shields...

It's well passed 0300, my eyes are bleary and my head's starting to ache. All I need to do is drop this shipment of Palladium off.

The first hint of trouble was my pad assignment, 16. it's a straight drop down from the mail slot. I've all ways have had trouble with pas close to the slot.

I got lined up fairly good I thought but I over shot the sweet spot. Being tired, I over corrected an hit something. That got my Cobra tangled in some cat walks and pinned on the wrong landing pad.

Just as I got my ship under control, Air Traffic Control decided to join in on the fun, they opened up and that was that.

Of course all my cash was in that load of Palladium, nearly 500Kcr. I managed to get my ship back and 1000cr so it's not a total loss.

(I had this all spaced out but for some reason it all gets smushed into an ugly block.)

Had you been sniffing glue by any chance? I found that played havoc with my landings. Nowadays I stick rigidly to a 'tippex thinners only' rule (and strictly only after 2am at that) and they have improved considerably - just a suggestion.

I sniff wasabi, it Wakes me up at 3 AM. ;)

Sunday night, right after getting home from work I of course wanted to play ED. I was also very tired from a 12 hour shift and taking my pain meds. I decided to test myself. All I had to do is whip out my Kindle and read one chapter of the current book I'm reading. I woke up 3 hours later ready to play.

Some of us just never learn.
Last night I thought - okay 1.1 out tomorrow. Might bork my little trade route prices so come on it's midnight, each trip is a 10min hop so will play until 1am and get me 1M in the bank.

So I was good, I really really was. 1am - I dock and am about to log off and "let's see if they are happy with me and have starting offering any navy missions"
130,000Cr to fetch 4 tons of Palladium you say? It's only 2 hops over.....what could go wrong?
Well after that EVERY Jump involved needing a supercruise internally as the jump point was hidden behind a planet or star;
EVERY jump was causing me to drop close to the star and taking heat damage and every docking meant I was getting bumped.
Topped off with "last" return journey I was bumped by an incoming T9 in the letterbox as I was exiting.
Got a 500Cr fine and thought nothing of it - will pay when I get to the other end (they are both Indept systems)
Only to see no option to pay locally so cue more angst and fraught jumps just to pay the blooming fine and get back.
2.50am all that took. I would have made a fortune doing normal tea runs in that time!
