The interior of a Sidewinder - new video

In Obsidian Ants latest video he features the video of CMDR Nebohtes trying to showcase the interior of the humble Sidewinder:

This is simply brilliant—something I always wanted for the the ships of E: D! The greatest allure of space legs for me always was the oppurtunity to discover the layout of my ship and its internal dimensions. This the video does this marvelllously. And I am stunned how big the tiny Sidewinder is after all. I hope there will be more videos like this in the future for more ships.

Bravo. Well done. Duly +1'd.

I had to do this on paper, with engineering drafting tools, for Traveller starships in the 70's and 80's.

So, the Sidewinder is the Type S, or is it the Cobra? :)

Good to see he included the space toilet. But i thought the ships didnt have gravity in them during space flight.
The same with the beds and ladders....

The ships are able to land on high G planets..

edit: I mean, you can at least simulate Earth gravity for a while by engaging the thrusters and keep constant acceleration :p

Worth bearing in mind that if there was eventually the possibility of combat or multiplayer within something like a sidewinder you probably wouldn't want everything crammed in as tight as possible. FPS tend to make rooms artificially enormous so you don't spend your whole time tripping over chairs etc...

Oddly enough astronauts on the ISS can sleep and relieve themselves while in free-fall. Lucky too, I'd hate to have to wait until I got to Earth before going to the toilet.

Beat me to it OP, the author/creator didn't want to post it here but had said he wouldn't mind someone else posting it. I definitely agree this guy's talent is exceptional and he's pretty modest about it too. :)

Now to wait for an Adder interior...[up]

Pushing out the waste yes. but a toilet that relies on gravity to collect isnt going to work. The same with a bed which you cannot lay down on. The ships in ED would need to be designed around a Zero G model inside.

Im just being pedantic, i think the videos are great but i wonder if the guy who did the designs forgot to think..... zero G when figuring out the floor plan.

Deck plans, Vasco. Constant acceleration ships would have a plan like a building; Elite's are more like aircraft.

Only been doing these for forty years...

What it does is show how much space is available even inside a tiny sidewinder.

If you use VR the Sidewinder is roughly the size of a 1,000-1,500 square foot house. And is close to around 2 and a half to 3 stories when landed with the legs out.

Alas I haven't seen the video, but per your thoughts above
In the novel Elite:Legacy, there is mention of rooms being multi-function, in the way one could use the "floor" as one room use and the "ceiling" as the "floor" for another room use
