The Inventory and Codex/Whatever Wheels have to go..

They don't respond to escape appropriately, if you tap them, they stop ALL movement, tapping them again doesn't properly make it go away, and in an emergency, it means that the most important action (moving the hell away from something dangerous) isn't prioritized.

This kind of design is what makes this feel so bad. They need to be replaced with a proper hotkey or inventory system.

I wonder if being able to scroll between the options using the mouse wheel rather than the pointer might help? Seems like it would be easier to implement than a whole new system. But yea idk why we don't have keybinds for some things.

Maybe a flat out scroll option only? (Don't steal mouse input for rotation/pitch, but allow the mousewheel and Mouse1 to select the option?)

I need movement, shields, and weapons (in that order) to be a priority in most combat scenarios and right now the game doesn't prioritize those right.

It was brought up a lot of time in alpha, response was to "fix" how terrible the mouse interaction with it was (not tested that fix) when the proper response was to burn it and start again

My thing is, why did they not make this work just like ship menus?
Why is this not a thing where i hold tab, and hit A, to then see all my nav, transactions, and what not on a little wrist mounted computer on the left arm
Why is it that tab + D does not pull up an inventory?
What does Tab but S not pull up a personal menu from which i can recall a ship.

The entire wheel system is so horribly unnecessary.

Better yet, why does holding Q NOT bring up a big wheel in the center that i can move my mouse around and select an option? Why do i need to now use another set of keys? The entire menu option on foot is the N64 controller all over again, why was it so horribly designed?

Couldn't agree more. Everything should have worked similarly to the ship, look down left and get that menu, right and get another, hotkeys for all the weapon/tool stuff
