Pierre-Henry Brandet, of the French interior ministry, said the attacker opened fire on a police van on the Champs Élysées, killing one officer and seriously wounding two others.
At about 9pm on Thursday night, the man drove a car up to a parked police van full of officers. He got out of the car and fired an automatic weapon, killing one officer in the van, before shooting at others who were standing on the nearby pavement, injuring two before he was shot dead by police.

What an unusual attack. Terrorists go for soft targets. Attacking the police directly like this is almost the opposite of that.
My condolences to the slain and speedy recovery to the wounded. Hopefully we'll learn more about this soon (and hopefully it doesn't end up helping Le Pen and her gang of thugs into power).

Wrong. Bad analysis. isis launched several appeals since years ago to incite all the jihadists in the world to commit attacks with their personal initiatives without to receive a mission order. The european jihadists, amateurs or professionals, who are thousands (and potentially tens of thousands), act as a franchise independent of the parent company. Appeal of isis : "Kill them (the Westerners) by any ways, with a knife, an ax, crush them with your car etc...."

By the look of it this is somewhere between your usual terror attack and personal vendetta against the police did by a criminal.
I think it happened because the French police captured the terror group whom wanted to attack in the election, so the "reserve" jumped in...
Anyway the French police and all other do better if keep a really close eye on such suspects around major events.

ISIS aren't terrorists. There is a working definition of a "terrorist", as well as a proper definition, and it isn't "barbaric factions that are hostile to people who don't share their ideology".
Terrorists attack soft targets to provoke and terrorize civilian populations. They don't hold territory and certainly don't direct traffic.
ISIS claim responsibility for any terror attack because it is their aim to drive a wedge between Muslims and other groups, that's all. Please don't assist their vile ideology by going along with it.

This whole Russia plot junk is just a conspiracy theory that was brought up by the Clintons during the election and was paid millions to have the hoax go worldwide and as a household discussion. It still remains alive today, however.
