Newcomer / Intro The Jet's Hole

Hello Cmdrs

I'm trying to unlock the engineer Hera Tani, so i travelled to Kamitra, purchased 45 cigars, and have travelled to Jet's Hole. I am now trying to request docking but each time i get the message "Criminals have no docking privileges, lethal response authorised". When i check my bounties and fines there are none there, so i'm a bit perplexed why i'm being refused docking permission!

Am i missing something, or has anyone else come across this?

Cheers in advance O7

You most likely do not satisfy the invitation criteria. You must satisfy those before you are allowed to dock. In the case of Hera Tani, you must first of all know about her from Liz Ryder, then you must gain an invitation by getting at least Outsider rank with the Empire.

Ah so i have to see Liz Ryder. That must be what it as i'm already a high enough rank within the Empire.

Is there anything i need to unlock before i see Liz Ryder?

Always worth checking the the engineers page in-game (right panel - 'Engineers') as the 3rd party sites aren't great at explaining progression, and that page is actually pretty clear

I always found the Inara engineers page pretty clear. I may be strange.
The top row of engineers are all "common knowledge". To be invited you just have to satisfy their invitation criteria.
The arrows indicate engineers that you will gain knowledge of if you rank up with the previous one, + signs indicate that they are part of a package unlocked by the previous arrow.

Basically, you can't visit any engineer if you don't get the specific invitation whether you meet the criteria or not. Before visiting an engineer, you should always check whether you have the invitation because it doesn't always come when it should. If you go close enough to the engineer's base without an invitation, they will blow you up very quickly.
