The Journey Home.

So has any one start make the journey back to the Bubble?

Question is are you
following the way points from the distant world journey out here?
Going Directly back in straight line as possible
or lastly going via a totally diffident route?

Choices choices..
It has been a long journey and having issues on-route putting me behind the pack (Ship exploding for no reason) and Have an incident with a planet about 22k ly's in thus re-spawning back in the bubble and traveling back out!! and eventually making to the Point

When is enough, enough :)

Now after travelling out the Moon of Podar and having a quick look see i am heading back to Beagle Point, But should I??

Very tempted to point the ship toward home and head back as my two travelling companions have already started on their back... just seeing what others are doing?

Yup, on my way back. Largely due to RL getting busy, but partially because of the inability to get into any instance where activities were ongoing.

I'm on my way back via the western quadrant (eastern if looking from BP), but have had to turn back towards WP22 because of the lack of jumpable stars going straight in that direction. Once the going gets a bit easier, I'll re-point myself back towards my original goal.

Ultimately, I'll either just do a big loop out there and bob back to the bubble, or I may suddenly decide to do an 'all cardinal points' journey back, taking in the far east and western points, and then the furthest point at the other side of the bubble (I've already done BP, north and south on this trip:)). I've yet to decide. But there's no rush :)

I was tempted to head out to edge and do the long way round but poo'ed poo'ed the idea as soon as I thought of it lol

Yes CMDR due to real life constraints I am on my way back as well. I am following the FGE fleet back along the Sagittarius-carina arm to sol. Still very very firmly a DW member just tagging along with another group on the way back.

I am a DW member (and organizer) as well as a member (and organizer) of the Sagittarius-Carina mission. The Sag-Car mission is open to everyone, so please don´t see it like two different groups or as something exclusive to the FGE :)

The Sag-Car relaunch date of april 9th was chosen excatly so that it might be an interesting offer for any explorer taking part in Distant Worlds and looking for an interesting path back to the bubble. From the beginning this mission has been envisioned as a community project to explore the Sag-Car arm - and its really great that you will be taking part in this :D

Sorry mate that's not what I meant to convey just very happy to be part of an organised group retuning to the bubble.
Just clarifying my DW placement that's all mate. I'm also a FGE member as well:)

Im currently heading east & skirting the Abyss in my 29.16LY Asp.

It's a gamble as to when I risk it & cut across the Abyss, if it works then I save 1000's of LYs in journey length. If I fail & have to backtrack then it's wasted & i may as well have gone to WP22......Hmmmm! decisions!

Ya mon - due to constant instancing and connection problem, I sadly decided to head home early.
I took CMDR Zeewolf's shortcut and that probably saved me several days of backtracking down the arm.
My 32.29LY Asp (full tank) needed about 3 basic and 1 standard boosts and a few jumps on fumes.
This pic shows me heading toward the core, with others in the arm behind me. :)

P.S. If you take the shortcut, I needed to head up a bit to find enough star for good routes.

is there a link for CMDR Zeewolf shortcut Fella

I'll be heading out on the 9th, too, as part of the Sagittarius-Carina mission. I keep flip-flopping about the route I'll take, but I'm thinking of running back on the coreward route (legs 3 and 4), and then either circling back through the arm (why not? :D) or checking out the formadine rift.

On my way home--skirting east in a diagonal, and if I see a way across before reaching Waypoint 22 I'm taking it. I've got quite a lot of jumponium, so who knows, maybe I'll just throw caution to the wind and cut across the Abyss earlier.

Beyond that, my plan is to head due west (Sol being south) towards the Upper 1st Quadrant just being a tourist with a vague thought of getting back to the bubble about the time 2.1 is due to release

Was planning to stick around for Ed, but found myself not logging in for days because the staying in one place doesn't suit me. So decided yesterday to do what I enjoy most, and set off again.

I'm not planning beyond crossing the abyss. That's the first hurdle, and what happens after that I'll see when I get there.

Off out on my own at the moment. I expect it to be quite some time before I turn for home, but when I do I thought I would swing by Sagittarius A. Ought to visit it at least once.
