CMDR Fallouttec takes to the depths of deep space once more in the Anaconda class frigate, Royal Space Vessel Northern Light. This post is dedicated to posts of his findings throughout the depths of space.

Story Thus Far:
Day 1:
After a failed attempt at making a run to "Anti-Sol" in an Asp Explorer class vessel, CMDR Fallouttec resided once more within the bubble for a few months; trading, bounty hunting, even a little piracy. But when a call from a woman named Felicy Farseer offered him some upgrades for his Frame Shift Drive, the gears of exploration once again moved at the sound of the offer.
After liquidation of all major assets, I purchased a beat up anaconda that had retired from navy service. I christened the vessel "Northern Light". To take off into the void once more I prepared the vessel with a standard entourage of equipment; Fuel scoop, AFMs, SRV hangers, Scanning equipment, and a variety of survival equipment.
Then I loaded her up and headed to Farseer Inc to roll my FSD Range increase, Grade 3.
Bingo, not a max roll but with a thermal load reduction that should be handy if I ended up smashing into some stars. And with his unladen range of 42.45 LY he already was breaking his record for largest jump made. His ship has no offensive armament, but hes not out to cause or get into trouble, just explore for the hopes of finding the unexplored.
His first destination set is a simple little single system nebula not far from the inhabited bubble; the System named T Tauri. A strange name for a system with a K class star. Looks nice! But alas its merely 500 LY from the bubble so its practically guaranteed to be explored, but it looks cool so lets go drive there. Oh also, 15 jumps to the system, 42 LY jump ranges. Love em.
One thing immediately becomes clear; The class 6 FSD consumes up to 8 tons of fuel in a single jump, the anaconda has only a 32 ton fuel tank. In just 4 max jumps I'd had hope i land at a fuel scoop able star, less i need to call up my buddies in the fuel rats. Alas; I have yet to actually require their service throughout my days (Although I came very close once when I had to go fuel up a friend who had started his CMDR career.) It may have been worthwhile to swap those cargo racks for some fuel tanks, but that would make fuel scooping take longer; so I'll just use my KGB-FOAM training to get me to safety. The Asp explorer used a class 5 FSD to do its jumps and that only consumed 5 tons per jump at max, and that also uses a 32 ton fuel tank.
I don't plan on heading immediately into T Tauri, i wanna have a look around for something unexplored to make a mark on to indicate my path, but so close to the bubble a large portion of systems, especially ones made with max jump ranges, have already been scanned. Eventually, i find a system where some commanders have left a handful of planets at the outer edge undiscovered; Perfect! Icy bodies alas, but ill grab a planet and its moon just to have it there. The moon is also land able, so why not test my skills at planetary landings and get down there.
The planets surface isn't very high gravity, 0.34, and the surface is ice so the SRV slides like no ones business, but the canyons here are very deep, easily fitting 4 anacondas stuck on top of each other. Even did a "Trench run" along one of them before i smacked into a wall and stripped half my shields away, oops. Best not be too hard on her just yet, gold paint's not even dry yet!
I'll spend the night here in this little canyon, already getting some great views here and its not even that far from the bubble. Can only get better from here.
