The king is dead - long live the king! - A farewell to RCT3

Almost 12 years ago the last AAA theme park and rollercoaster sim was revealed to the world.
It was a long and bumpy ride till RCT3 became what it is today, but as it stands it is the only
game in all those years that was able to give us the ability to create the parks and coasters of
our dreams all set up together with beautiful scenery and great amount of detail. I know that
not everyone was happy with the style, or the minimalism of the peeps back then, but one
thing stands for sure: The game still looks decent 12 (!) years later, and most of us guys here
still spend a lot of time on it each and every year since launch.

The community also deserves to be mentioned. It doesn't happen often that a community
stays with its game so long and so persistent. To this day awesome people create unbelievable
parks and coasters in RCT3, and everytime I crawl around in YouTube's RCT3 lands I find at
least one thing I haven't seen before that is completing astounding.

But now it is time to say goodbye. Today is the day RCT3 will be replaced by a successor,
a game in the true spirit of Rollercoaster and Theme Park games, that will lead our creativity
to new heights, and our visitors to new adventures. And though it makes me kind of sad
to say goodbye it feels like the right thing to do, since RCT's spirit lives on.

The king is dead - long live the king! - To another awesome 12 years with Planet Coaster!

And one of my favourite RCT3 rides to remind us how good this game actually was!
