CMDR's
Having been offered more and more mining missions. I have been soul searching for a medium ship to turn to. I don't want to talk anymore about mining. But whilst I spent time considering each ship in turn for that role, I was left thinking. Why isn't there a good alternative to the Python from any of the shipyards? Not to replace the Python at the top spot, but to bring a second option, with alternative good points.
This thread I commented on, on page 4 brought back some thoughts on how a new ship could come. Its about mining again. But I liked some points;

I pick on the Python because, yes its the medium multi role ship that does it all. But I tend to look on the Python as primarily a military ship. I use mine as a military multi role. I suppose it comes down to the fact that its over qualified for tasks such as mining, or trade etc. Its more than just a big Asp isn't it?
First lets discount the current medium multirole lineup;
Asp - Too small.
Type 7 - Too slow / ugly and solely a Transport
Dropships - Locked access, military themed.
FDL - Just combat
There are a few ways to come at this, and I for one am looking to Lakon to supply some options.
I think the first thing is to find what should a new ship do better than the Python. Well not much, maybe just speed and boost speed. That's all I would like. And all round weapon loadout, like an Assault ship.
A bigger Asp would suit me. Bubble cockpit. Imagine A Python with a Vulture cockpit.
2x C3 weapons, 3 x C2 weapons. 4 utilities
C 6 powerplant
C 6 FSD
C 6 thrusters
C 6 PD
Internals
C6 x2, C5 x3, C4 x 2, C2 x1.
Price £45 mil
A "civilian" looking ship. Not over qualified. Not trumping the Python. Only just trumping the Dropships in weapons. Slower and less utilities than FDL. Something to turn to as a bigger Asp. With Lakon multirole speed.
