The Lands Concept

We've already been having a ton of talk about various "land" concepts...Island, Drylands, Highlands seem to be the most prominent. And today it hit me for the first time (probably late to the party and everyone's already figured it up) a Farmlands pack. Taking all those petting zoo animal requests for it!

Islands, Highlands, Farmlands....good potential concepts
Drylands I like...but wonder if it would be too similar to Grasslands. Or is it more for deserts? Or is that Sandlands  I've also seen Scrublands mentioned.

But seriously, what other concepts? Something Tundra and Tropical....but not using Icelands and Greenlands as that would probably be very confusing. Woodlands maybe, though it seems like that would be too similar to Twilight pack.

Just noting too, I do not think Frontier is going to suddenly start calling all of their packs "something"land - this is just for thoughts and discussion.

Yeah the whole lands concept is starting to be a little too common when thinking of new packs, if frontier can think of interesting pack names why can't we . Ah some random brainstorming of half interesting names then:

  • Tropical/temperature rainforests
  • Alpine - a better biome for high elevation animals
  • Northern Forests
  • Tropical Islands
  • Poles (north/south pole animals)
  • Under the canopy - animals who live in trees
  • Domestic - farm and pet like animals (cheetahs and golden retrievers are best buds)
  • Black as night - nocturnal animals
  • Savanna
  • Extreme temperatures - animals who live in really cold or hot regions
  • Coastal
  • Under the waves - marine life
  • I could go on and say like extinct animals and all that but that's too off the far end for me

OH No! Don't put the Pelican in the Box :cautious:

But you gave me an idea.
What do you all think of Northlands and Southlands as a theme?
So everything from either the northern hemisphere or the southern.
That would be extremely random, but hey it's Frontier! 😂
In that case, they may as well just call them the hemisphere packs.

😭😭😭I'm sorry, I had to think of something and it was late and I was tired. Don't destroy DarthQuell 😭😭😭
Awww don't cry!
look, pelicans don't belong in a box⬇️ Poor Niels

I mean, Northlands... maybe? It has specific connotations of tundra and taiga, and there's some solid options still on the table as far as those go (Musk Ox, Wolverine, Walrus, Black Bear, Snowshoe hare, a marten sp etc) but Southlands doesn't really have that same kind of specific baggage?

I think it means to split the packs into northern hemisphere and southern hemispheres not connecting to elevational differences
Northlands can include typical Taiga, temperate , even tundra animals while Southland's is more warm climate animals from Oceania, southern Africa and South America. If we are looking at high elevations well you have south American alpine animals like Spectatled bear, vicuna, chinchilla etc while other regions include savanna/desert animals from Africa, penguins from the sub Antartic and of course tropical animals from Oceania

Exacly.
Also a theme around the equator would be cool. With animals that live in this specific area.

I've thought about a Northern Hemisphere pack and a Southern Hemisphere pack. I think they'd be solid:

Northern Hemisphere animal pack
  1. Musk ox
  2. Wild boar
  3. Collared peccary
  4. Walrus
  5. Wolverine
  6. Dromedary camel
  7. Lion tailed macaque
  8. Indian flying fox (WE)
Southern Hemisphere animal pack
  1. Spectacled bear
  2. Black howler monkey
  3. Red river hog
  4. Fossa
  5. North Island brown kiwi
  6. Greater rhea
  7. Tasmanian devil
  8. Scarlet macaw (WE)
  9. Spix's macaw (WE)
  10. Military macaw (WE)
  11. Blue and yellow macaw (WE)
  12. African grey parrot (WE)

Just some ideas

I like the idea of Northlands and Southlands packs. Northlands could be a scenery pack IMO, as to me, the Northern Hemisphere is much more well represented than the Southern. I'm not sure what scenery it could focus on but there's other European themes we don't have yet, something for the Middle East/West Asia, a Central American theme or American Prairie (calling it Frontier...is too on the nose lol). Southlands should definitely be an Animal pack though.

Adding something of a joke, but just to get a Friday laugh. The Badlands pack - featuring more aggressive animals. Wolverine, Honey Badger, Tasmanian Devil for starters.

Another one came to me (again, probably thought of already but it's new for me lol) - Swamplands or Boglands (probably Swamplands)
