the launcher always openes a (not working) web site

After a fresh install of ED something new happens: Every time I open the launcher (none steam version here) it wants to open a web site too (a frontier web site that is not working). Normally the launcher did not do that. What is going wrong here? when starting the edlaunch.exe it always openes this web site: https://customersupport.frontier.co...-XINPUT1-3-DLL-IS-MISSING-FROM-YOUR-COMPUTER-

I have no idea what xinput is. hope it is the latest launcher. I saw I can disable the check for xinput in the options menu of the launcher then the message is gone. no further issues so far.

Just another example of how things get missed by FD devs. The whole of the support FAQs got "re-organised" (read changed to something much harder to navigate) and this error-link in the launcher didn't get altered.

It's part of DirectX that deals with XBox controller support. It's normally part of Windows, but uninstalling certain things can remove it, and enterprise versions don't have it by default.

Installing the XBox Console Companion, or just the DirectX redistributable will install/update xinput.
